They made it clear they were taking one more rb and that's it. Williams has his shot to take the spot because Vaughn is dead set on signing day.

This late in the cycle, I'd guess that the staff would take whoever commits first out of Soso and Williams and that Vaughn would be the backup plan. Just my opinion.

I know this is kinda messed up and I'll prolly catch crap, BUT - (WVU aside) I find it kind of sad that ND has to scratch and claw to get a kid deciding between Purdue and Illinois to consider us. Granted, I'm BEYOND glad that we (presumably) are going to get Williams. I think he's going to be fin to watch. But as for Vaughn, WTF? Really? Purdue, Illinois and WVU??? Come on man. How is a kid like this not jumping at the chance to play for a school like ND when THAT's the competition?

I don't blame him for not committing to ND before visiting, and maybe he couldn't get to ND and/or ND wasn't in a hurry to get him on campus until Dexter did because they felt good about Dexter.

ND could have slow played Vaughn.

The mom shouldn't have said anything but I don't see it as sour grapes. She probably didn't think her statement would make it this far. It's not like Vaughn is a high profile recruit.

I could be wrong, but it might have something to do with what the coaches may know about Dexter. Sometimes coaches will tell a kid to start looking elsewhere if they know they have a prospect in the bag. Again, I could be wrong. But it's happened before.

Sampson just posted that a source close to Vaughn let him know that Dexter Williams committed to ND tonight, which is why Vaughn 'eliminated' ND. Now, who knows when Dexter will make it official, but it looks great right now.

I know we kind of came on late in December, but the kid also had an offer from tOSU at one point and lost that opportunity too because another RB pulled the trigger first. I know it's a big decision for a kid to make, but opportunity doesn't always leave the door open long. There were some sour grapes from his mom in the Williams thread, but what can you do? Hopefully Williams is on board, it sounds like he is, and if so then that's the way the system works. My guess is Vaughn will now wind up at Louisville or WV.
