I saw that most or many were in agreement that ND should consider taking JUCO's. I agree. What're the odds ND moves in this direction and how would you like to see it managed?
Closing in on the end of my sophomore year at ND I looked into transferring when I found that my major of choice was to be eliminated and would no longer be "degreed."
I contacted other schools. I found that many credits wouldn't be recognized as acceptable for qualifying.
Universities can be real bitches.
I don't know that there will ever be a ton of hope for JUCOs.
I believe that the best we will be able to do in this realm is 5th year seniors, a la Cody Riggs. And, unfortunately, even these will be extremely limited.
There are only so many high level football players that will be able to qualify academically after attending another university or junior college.
There had been some discussion about St. Mary's having a lower division football program that could essentially act as a farm team for Notre Dame. This would allow us to maintain our high standards for student athletes and also oversee our future transfers' academic endeavors. Interesting concept, but I don't believe anything like this will ever take place. Simply a pipe dream. But, man, that would really be rad.
The same could have been said about field turf at NDS. That possibility doesn't cross any tradition borders either. It's seems very possible that St Mary's or Holy Cross (or both combined) would put together a farm team for ND. I just have doubts that any legitimate fruit will bare from this idea. That team will be years away from establishing a legitimate team, and generally those who don't qualify for ND prior to the fact, are generally not going to ND in the first place, so this would benefit only a select few who want to go to ND but just need time to get their grades up.
True. I guess the idea of it essentially being a farm team is a bit far fetched. But gaining one or two extra kids a year would certainly be worth it, no?
Anyway, I am just spitballing here. Have had a bit of whiskey this evening. Thoughts may not be complete at the moment.
Well, that may be, but we have to look at it, not from a Notre Dame fan perspective, but from a HC or St.M perspective. Starting a team, funding it's travels and building facilities is expensive. Is it really beneficial to those schools to invest millions of dollars just to get a few players to bridge over to ND?
I couldn't begin to break down the finances of these institutions. And, again, I am just spitballing, but I have to believe that an institution like Holy Cross or St. Mary's has the resources to field a football team that competes regionally.
However, as I stated in my original post, I don't know how realistic this concept is. Just an idea pertaining to the concept of JUCOs.
Preach. It seems like ND is one of the worst when it comes to transferring credits over, and that's saying a lot, because pretty much all schools are real stingy when it comes to that. It's borderline illegal.
It's an all girls school.
id have them 7 pt favorites over purdue
Guys, I just have a feeling St. Mary's isn't going to field a football team anytime soon, and not because of money....
