Simply got out recruited:
It was tough, but I just felt like Stanford needed me a little more than Notre Dame. Stanford never stopped recruiting me either, even when I was committed elsewhere they stayed after me. That was big. When I visited Stanford, I could tell that their coaches were sincere about what they were telling me. I fit in there and I was comfortable around the players and my parents loved it.

How is it possible that on a team with like 2 total healthy bodies at safety going into spring ball that we couldn't convey "need"? And another classic example of what we talked about a couple weeks ago with a lack of sell/personal attention on visits with Kelly being "aloof" or not around.

Yep, no reason this should be happening. With the news of Harbaugh to UM we can cross off Kinnel as well. We better we get some insane intensity regarding recruiting after the bowl game.

Booker was his primary recruiter, Cooks was secondary.

Maybe we aren't selling hard enough, but some of these kids quotes have to be taken with a grain of salt.

I did really like Edwards, but if we land McKinney, Williams, and Buncom, along with Fertitta I think that is still a pretty good haul. I wonder why both Rivals and 247 like Mykelti Williams, but no one on this board does?

Besides ESB this isn't the last recruit in the next couple weeks we are going to lose. Always the bridesmaid never the bride.

For the record I like Williams but there's more to this than just that. The need for numbers is pretty huge. McKinney might not be part of the class whether we like it or not. Also, assuming this mean we get Buncom is a stretch to me. Stanford has plenty of space to take both players, they only have like 9 guys committed. If it works out how you explained then I'll be fine with that, I'm just not too confident at this point. I'd like us to go all in on Jennings.

Why all the hyperbole. I get it we ended the season badly. Why does that mean everything is bad in every way?

Not at all. Just saying we are often a hat left on the table this year especially. If the coaches got a stipend to finish in a recruits top 2 they be making a killing.

What do you mean "right now"? If you are talking recruiting...

- Our incoming QB looks like an absolute stud
- Out incoming Center is the best in the country
- Looks like we'll land Tillery
- I like our 3 LBs a lot
- Our WR haul looks excellent
- We landed a 4-star safety a couple of days ago (everyone always discounts ESPN and Scout until we land a kid that is a 4star "only" on Rivals and 247)
- Looks like we are leading for the TE we all want
- We may still have a shot with Soso, and "plan B" is pretty darn good.

OK. If you meant that we are losing a lot more than we are winning to finish off this class, I's agree, though the jury is still out. But "always" is a little over-doing it.

There is obviously more.

Worst part about this to me isn't missing on the player but the said player admitting we got out worked. Coming off a 7-5 season that's unacceptable. You either win big or work your butt off, IMO. It seems like we're doing neither. Edwards is a nice player but this can easily be made up for, it's just time to start doing it already.

SoSo's comments contradict the idea that we aren't working hard, this could just be the case where we landed a quality safety already and are focusing our efforts elsewhere. And as Stanford now has 13 commitments, only 2 of which are dbs, they may have shifted into full court press.

This is providing ammo to aim at Kelly. The recruiting could be so much better than what it is and he has shown he could do it before. Befuddled describes it perfectly.

Alford and Cooks are hard workers. Denbrock was prior to his promotion and like stated above they've shown that they can do it when they want to. Like I stated with Bilals recruitment a couple months back. We seem to operate with this level of arrogance that if we're winning 10+ games I'd be ok with but we're not so sack up and bust your butt.
