Probably was "in talks" with USC, too.

Very "hush hush" stuff. I don't know, maybe he was secretly in talks, but based on what I have gotten, it seemed USC jumped in and instantly jumped to the top. Wouldn't be surprised if that were the case, but would be disappointed for yet ANOTHER elite RB to shun ND. We've already had like 4 in a row do something similar (though 1 just acted a fool and blew it).

If Jones does indeed pick USC, who do we turn to? We cannot end the class without a 2nd RB. That's not an option.

Nope, nothing hush hush about it. He is openly telling people that it's ND/USC. It's all over the place.

Hilarious. I haven't heard that one before. Excuse me for thinking that a guy decommits from a school right after visiting ND, and thinking he's probably heading to ND.

In addition, keeping Alford away from CSU should have helped our chances even moreso.

Hearing is physical. Listening is mental. You hear lots of things. You don't listen to anything.

That I get. The whole USC silent commit thing is what seems to be the "hush hush" stuff going about. Also USC getting back into it was pretty quiet.

The exact point of a silent commit is to keep it hush hush, hence the word silent.

Apparently he is looking at winning National Championships in deciding between ND and USC. I was at his 247 page and on the bottom right there is a tweets box and some guy named "Damon Sayles" had a quote from him. Sorry if this has been posted.

Considering we got taken behind the woodshed by USC...

It was not quiet. It might not have been talked about here on this site (no idea...I haven't looked), but it was plenty talked about in other places. I knew he was thinking about USC, I knew when he was visiting, and I knew that he enjoyed his visit tremendously. USC reporters were all over it and weren't quiet about it.

FWIW, Wiltfong posted that Bartow is a "true insider" and if he's saying Jones to USC then he must have some information. There are days where confidence is pretty low but then conversations with Jones continue to go well, saying the right things.

M. Farrell posted on the II board that he thinks ND has the slight edge.

Bartow is good. He's not Schraeder. But again, this all stems from Jones telling people on his visit that he was "coming to USC"... if he was serious, then that's the "silent." If he was caught up in the moment or using hyperbole, then he's not. I think at this point you'd have to give the edge to USC though with their level of confidence being so absolute.

Not as good as myspace but still another source

Under Armour Game College Announcements

It will be Notre Dame or USC for McKinney (Texas) North Top100 running back Ronald Jones II. The Irish are the 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite but it would be no surprise to see him leave Florida as a Trojans commit. Jones is ranked as the nation's No. 9 running back by the 247Sports Composite.

Watch the kids highlight and one thing that's concerning is EVERY carry in it, whether the run was right or left, he had the ball in his right arm. At higher levels this would be keyed on by good defenders

All great high school athletes do that. This will be addressed immediately when entering a college program. Nothing to be concerned about at all.

Per Rivals USC, Jones says he is torn between the 2 schools and says everything is the same between the 2, except for the weather. Then added that weather wasn't a big deal. Also said ND is recruiting him harder than USC lately.

Not to mention Mom favors ND.

That is a major boost, but I am concerned with his comment. "Everything between the schools is the same, besides weather." Sorry, but ND's academics are on a whole different level. That has me worried.

Well. USC also blew us the fuck out. With less scholarships. With their coach in the first year. With our coach in his 5th year. I'll take us being the "same."

It is actually closer than you think. It is more like, do you want to live in Chicago or Los Angeles because those connections you will make during undergrad are what counts the most in my opinion.
