How many pro teams (or ND women's BB) will now wear shirts in support of police officers?

Posting from phone, so I'm not sure if this has been posted (and I can't post a link), but just saw a report of another officer gunned down in Florida.

The more of these there are, the less likely a constructive discourse is in the immediate future...

Just waiting for an idiot to pull this in a city where people like the cops...you can bet civilians are already "organizing", "patrolling", "waiting"... and it will get out of hand very quickly...its coming.

I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent.

Florida Cop Shot, Killed in Tarpon Springs Shooting - NBC News

A police officer was shot and killed early Sunday morning in Florida, officials said. Tarpon Springs Officer Charles "Charlie K" Kondek was shot and killed while responding to an incident at about 3 a.m. ET in Pinellas County, about 30 miles from Tampa, according to a Tarpon Springs Police Department statement. Pinellas County spokeswoman Cecilia Barreda said a suspect was in custody and was likely being questioned.

Barreda said Kondek's family had been notified. The 45-year-old officer was a 17-year law enforcement veteran, and got his start in the New York Police Department, according to the Tarpon Springs Police Department. "Our hearts and prayers go out to the Kondek Family and offer our deepest sympathy to them. May Charlie rest in peace and We Will Never Forget him," the Tarpon Springs Police Department posted on Facebook. People were leaving cards and flowers outside of police headquarters, where a police cruiser was parked outside to honor the fallen officer, according to WFLA.

The shooting came hours after a gunman shot and killed two police officers in Brooklyn before taking his own life. Investigators in New York believe the attacker boasted on social media about a plan to target cops, possibly out of revenge for the deaths of two unarmed black men who died in confrontations with police.

This does not appear connected with NYC shootings. Also tragic but not a pattern

Florida police officer shot dead; suspect in custody

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — A police officer was shot and killed early Sunday in Tarpon Springs, Fla.

The Tarpon Springs Police Department identified the officer killed as 45-year-old Charles "Charlie K" Kondek.

The shooting occurred around 3 a.m. at an apartment complex on Grand Boulevard in Tarpon Springs, about 25 miles northwest of Tampa. Police were originally called for a noise ordinance complaint with a suspect banging on residential doors. When police arrived the suspect shot Kondek and then attempted to flee in a vehicle but crashed his car into a pole and then a vehicle.

Police caught the suspect, who is now in custody. Kondek was transported to Florida Hospital North Pinellas where he later died from his injuries.

Kondek served the city of Tarpon Springs as a sworn law enforcement officer for 17 years, many of which were on the midnight shift. Originally from New York, he previously served for more than five years as a New York City police officer before moving to Florida.

Police have scheduled a news conference for Sunday afternoon to provide more details about the incident.

The shooting comes just a day after two New York City police officers were killed in an ambush-style shooting.

Yea you won't see any of those black athletes wear anything to support the police.

I would probably want to mess with 99% of NFL players rather than Mangold. Doubt any of his black teammates will mention it.

Perfect. You are attributing thoughts and feelings to people that you know nothing about, and the event just happened yesterday morning. You could at least give them a week to see if they say or wear anything, instead you rush to make judgement about people that you don't know based off of the color of their skin. Awesome.

And yes, I know the attitude inside an NFL locker room actually. I am pretty good friends with Kevin Greene's (LB coach for the Packers) son. I hear the stories.

Also, a it's a pretty safe bet that most of his teammates are down with the anti-police movement flying around social media.

I am a racist.

Again, why is it a safe bet? It is like you are trying to bait someone into calling you a racist. Why don't you try to grow up and have intelligent conversations, you call Sharpton a race baiter but what you are doing is the same thing, you just can't see it.

Those would the ones who ignored the facts and supported the cause. Wearing the shirts to cry for media attention. such as lebron, rose,

Except for the fact that entire teams (both black and white players) wore the shirts. Be careful with your statements and the adverbs/adjectives you use.

Because I hear what is said inside the locker rooms. I know the attitude adopted by the majority of these guys.

LOL. So you know the son of a football player and that makes you an expert how all NFL players feel about police and race relations. Do you realize how little sense that makes?

I will not comment here again. I put my feelings out there, call them wrong, that is fine. I will give you reps.

Prayers to the families.

I know it's probably hard for you but please try and leave race out of it. 2 innocent cops are dead lets just focus on their families and say prayers for them.

Did you miss the protests calling for dead cops? They weren't led by true clergy or men of the cloth. This is premeditated murder against innocent cops.

Somebody who makes a living by coaching these guys and is constantly around them? Yup, I'd say that's a pretty good source.
