I'd like to know where he's projected. He's had a solid year, but i just don't think he's quite ready to be a very high pick.

My next question is why would he be leaving? Is there something going in behind the scenes?

Who is Matt miller? And Stanley needs to stay for one more so he can be a top 10 pick

Bleacher report. So can I assume it's not a legit source?

Don't tell Matt that...

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if Stanley leaves. He has way more hype right now than Z Mart did last year at this time. We saw how everything worked out for Z Mart and that'd be awfully hard to turn down 1st round money. I'd be surprised if he went any lower than that.

I get the strike while the iron is hot mentality, but IDK that I'll ever understand kids leaving after 3 years (unless graduated) and coming to ND in the first place. Why not go to a football factory where all you have to do is focus on your craft? Someone choosing ND over everywhere else should understand the value in staying one more year and getting the ND degree over chancing it in the pros.

Yes, he could finish his degree later. But we know that does not often happen (not to mention, that cost comes out of pocket).

Good luck to him if he takes off! Hopefully he stays and graduates.

Due to the new CBA it is wise to leave early now if you are indeed an NFL prospect. Staying in college for an NFL prospect means that is just one less year of salary. It was the reason Niklas left and many others all around the country. Rookie contracts are not awarding high picks as they used to, instead the money comes in the second contract. If I were an NFL prospect and I would leave too.

School isn't going anywhere and you can finish in the offseason or after your career is over.

It worked out real well for Niklas too didn't it? 3 catches for 38 yards 0 TDs. Yes I know on Nov 18th he was put on IR.

If it's first round money, take it. Opportunity cost is too high in football to fool with improving your stock.

Remember these two facts:

1. You go to college to learn how to make a living

2. 1842... ND will be there when he's ready to finish.

Did you change your major in college? Did your priorities change while in college? 17 year old Ronnie might think differently than 20 year old Ronnie. I don't know his family situation or his projections either. College, especially ND, will always be there for him. The NFL won't.

It doesn't matter. He could possibly have surgery and never be them same now he hasn't nothing going for him. He would have to come back know to finish his degree.

1.8 million if he gets cut at some point, which is probably pretty rare for a 2nd rounder. More than most people have in their early 20s.

He can go back to Notre Dame, graduate in whatever he was majoring in, get a job, and have that 1.8 million to sit on and compound interest. That 1.8 million gives him financial security, makes any career risks less painful if something goes wrong, and he will never have to think about "what if".

You or I can't say that with certainty he could have pissed that away or he might have barley spent a penny.

And with the weak TE class he could probably gonna #1 this year and made a lot more money. Because I have enough faith to say he is better then O'Leary.

It's not that simple.

If he only gets the $1.8m guarantee, take $900,000 off for taxes and agent fees. Next, subtract what he will spend per year living a professional lifestyle. If he can keep it at or under $100k that would be a miracle.

That being said, If you have $500k in the bank and need to take a year of classes to get your ND degree, nobody is going to feel sorry for you. That's a situation .001% of people start out with.

Last I checked, McShay had Koyack as the #3 TE. Unsure if that includes juniors. Nicklas would be arguably #1 or #2 although TE isn't getting much love from Golson.

Maybe Niklas left cuz he knew it would be different?

Either way, Stanley just isn't ready. Better to play then sit a year.
