Hate it that I live in the world where I have to root for LSU, but GEAUX TIGERS.

I don't forget. Believe it or not, I know our schedule pretty well. Let's say TCU goes 11-1. Our best wins would be ASU, USC, Stanford, Louisville. A brutal loss at FSU. TCU has wins over OU, Baylor, K-State, WVU, OK State. A brutal loss at Baylor where they lost a 21 point lead in the 4th. Plus, they'd be conference champs, something emphasized by the committee.

I think we'd beat TCU on a neutral field, but an 11-1 TCU would have a solid argument over an 11-1 ND. I wouldn't want to leave it up to a 12-person random committee.

TCU lost to Baylor though...

We jump Ole Miss. 2 to go.

Ole Miss proved they were a fraud. Completely mediocre team. Good defense, atrocious offense.

I agree with this. The positive press we got for taking Florida State to the last play of the game has started to fade. By the end of the season, nobody's going to care who lost to who: the question will be who did you beat? I'm not confident ND will have a great answer to that. Luckily, it's CFB and there's a lot of football left to be played. No team is unbeatable this year.

Last year at this time I believe Auburn was ranked 13th. Lots of football to be played. ND has to take care of their own business.

But but but...every other team in the country might win out and the committee might select them over us! We're lacking a quality win over Nebraska so how can we make it?

That game was painful. ESecPN will promote it as a defensive showcase but in reality both teams just aren't that good. LSU flat out sucks on offense and really isn't that great defensively. Ole Miss looked lost offensively and on defense only had to stop the run since LSU could pass their way out of a wet paper bag.

I knew midnite would strike for the Miss schools soon. 1 down, 1 to go and I am sure Bama will do it on the 15th. Wallace was completely flustered agains LSU! We all knew LSU had a questionable offense but it was nice to see them get their running game going. They can win more SEC West games with shut down defense and ground n pound. That was a classic Les Miles victory. Ran it 12 times before play action in the goaline situation for the winning TD. Ole Miss studs are still young but I knew this wasn't their year.

We better hope TCU loses. I'm honestly quite worried about an 11-1 TCU getting in over us.

How is TCU's defense good? They gave up 60+ points to Baylor, 33 to Oklahoma, and 27 Texas Tech in a game they still scored 80+. TCU's defense is not elite by any means. The Big12 does not know what defense means this year.

All TCU has left on their schedule is KSU and it's the same week we play ASU. So unless TCU is ahead of us tomorrow there is no way without a championship game that they have enough juice to jump us.

Good point. Either way, I'm rooting for WVU to knock them off this week. I'm dreading the committee having to decide between an 11-1 ND and a 1-loss conference champ for the 4th playoff spot.

I honestly think Stanford beating Oregon this week would 100% guarantee us getting in the playoff at 11-1. Oregon is the only PAC-12 team that I think can go 12-1. Just don't see it from Arizona or Utah (and obviously at 11-1, we would give ASU a second loss).

We can still beat ASU and they can still beat Oregon in the PAC championship

Stanford beating Oregon would be the best thing out of our control that can happen for us this weekend.
TCU or MSU could conceivably get in ahead of us in the worst-case "fourth slot after two SEC teams and FSU" scenario. But Oregon would have the strongest case. Knock them out of the box and give our best win a quality win.
I think Stanford could do it, too. They've obviously got the D, and their offense has looked better the last couple of weeks.

Well to be fair, they held Texas Tech to 3 points below average, sh!t the bed in the 4th against Baylor, otherwise they hold them roughly 12 points below average, and held Oklahoma to 6 points below average. They currently lead the nation in points for as well.

Now those stats are not aggregated like football outsiders does, it's just hard stats, but still, for a team in the Big XII where defense rarely does anything, they are forcing turnovers and holding opponents.

I think WVU has a great shot at knocking off TCU. Coming off 2 good wins + playing at home against another ranked team...that place will be nuts!

OR at Utah next weekend where the Utes tend to play very tough at home in another hostile environment... Although that doesn't help ND's schedule strength.

I agree with both of you. We need either Stanford, ASU, or USC to beat Oregon for us. Makes ND look like the best option.
