I know we have poll threads already but this is really the only poll that counts.

The first ever playoff rankings will be released this Tuesday. I am personally excited to see how they make thier decisions.

I bet we're 5. Come season end 'Bama will kick the snot out of Auburn knocking them off...will eventually jump them.

I've seen a lot of over ranked, smoke and mirror, ND teams in the past. This is not one of them. This squad is legit top 5 easily, going forward as well.

FWIW, Danny Kanell had Notre Dame at #4 over teams like Alabama, Auburn, and Ole Miss. He had:

1. MSU
2. FSU
3. Oregon
4. ND

I could see ND anywhere from 4-7.

So according to a Bleacher report Condoleezza Rice is a Notre Dame alum. This is going to supposedly help us with the selection committee.

She's also a Stanford alum. Did they mention that it would help Stanford?

EDIT: She's not actually a Stanford alum. But she was the Provost there from '93-'99.

ND has several former associates on the committee. No worries about the haters.
I say we come in at 7 or 8.

Did she actually go to ND? I was always under the impression that she went to Stanford.

Undergrad at University of Denver, Grad School at ND, according to Wikipedia. But Bio.com lists her education as "Stanford University, University of Denver, University of Notre Dame"?

Thanks. I did not know that. I just thought it was more garbage reporting by Bleacher.

The way I see it, there is a definite hierarchy of teams, as far as "team power" as opposed to team record goes, this season.

1-4 are Miss St, Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss.

5-10 are FSU, ND, Oregon, MSU, Georgia, TCU

Honestly I think the bible belt SEC teams are just a cut above, and then the top team from each conferences after that makes up the next tier. Thoughts?

The most kick-ass scenario for ND at the end of the year:

1. Ranked #4, one spot in front of 1 loss Florida State. Florida State fans scream that they beat us on the field, and it's a travesty that we are ranked in front of them. ND fans just smile and hold up the final 1993 polls.

2. ND plays undefeated SEC Champion Miss State in the semifinals of the playoffs. Pundits give ND no chance against an SEC team, ND wins; 13-9.

3. ND plays Alabama in the Championship game. Pundits all praise ND for their play so far, but spent almost all of their time talking about the last time ND played Alabama. ND wins; 24-7.

Not sure how some of these "former associates" feel about ND...

Right. I was not intending to sound like we will have favorites. The memebers here are supposed to have a recusal process in place and I would like to think that Rice, Willingham, and Alvarez might be able to objectively defend their position without removing themselves. But obviously Pat Haden's antics have also cast a questionable shadow on this "committee."

pppssssssttt...'Bama, maybe, that is it...their not Hercules either. FSU is better than the other three teams you list 1-4, they do have the best player in the country. Notre Dame is up there too. Who is the fourth team?

Well bama would have 2 losses if miss st is champ, well i assume anyways. I guess if bama beat miss st but then miss st beat ole miss, a tie breaker might go to miss st.

That dumbass Clay Travis didn't even have us in his top ten. If it matters at all actually. The guy is the biggest homer.

How? Ole Miss lost, yet we drop a spot?

We aren't dropping anything. This is new poll, with no preseason rankings to help or hurt, and no history.

It will be interesting to see what statement this group of folks will make. Will it mirror the USAT or AP poles, will they take a different path.

The committee is indeed a mix. Looks a little heavy on PAC12 if you ask me....

1 SEC (Long-ArK) who is also the chair. Archie left
2 Big 10 (Alvarez-WI, Osborne-NE)
1 Armed Forces (Gould-AF)
3 Pac12 (Hayden-USC / Jernstedt-OR / Willingham-SU)
1 Big12 (Luck-WV)
1 ACC (Radakovich-Clem)
1 AAC/BigEast (Tranghese)
1 Press (Wieberg-USAT) He did attend Missouri
1 Governement (Rice-ND)

I'm guessing

MissSt
FSU
Bama
Oregon
MichSt
Auburn
Ole Miss
ND
UGA
TCU
KanSt

Hoping we get some loved from the Armed Forces, Rice, our historical rivals (who aren't in contention like Hayden) and some of the old school guys.
