So, I'm not sure how many people know, but Larry Coker (Miami HC from 2001-2006) is the Head Coach at UTSA, and its their 4th year in the program's history. This is their first year being eligible for a bowl game, but they went 7-5 last year against a full FBS schedule playing in the C-USA. Extremely impressive coaching job by Coker. According to Phil Steele, they are projected to win their division and make the C-USA title game.

As I'm typing this, they are beating Houston 24-0 with 1:15 left in the 3rd quarter. Houston was 8-5 last year and obviously no slouch. I just think its a pretty cool story for Coker to be a Head Coach again, and to be leading such a dramatic turnaround. This team was literally scrimagging against each other as opposed to playing real games as of 2010. This team has a legitimate shot to win 10+ games this year (they have 10 senior starters on O and 9 on D), and I'm sure will be a trendy upset pick the next two weeks when they play Arizona (at home on Thursday) and at Oklahoma State. What they are doing right now is really unheard of for a football team considering this is only their 4th year EVER playing football.

Just figured I would post this here for anyone who didn't know Coker was back coaching, and cause I thought it was a cool story. I also love picking UTSA in NCAA Football, so I've had a soft spot for them for a couple years now.

Also of note, Coker was one of 2 finalists for the Rice job in 2007. It went to Davif Bailiff instead, who is still the current Rice coach.

Houston looks like garbage tonight. That offensive line is an absolute joke.

You are far and away the most negative person I have ever encountered. lol

Are you like this in real life? I mean, in every conversation do you always point out the worst and/or assume the worst?

Not trying to poke fun, i'm genuinely interested if its your internet persona or really how you are? Either way, I enjoy your posts because its so consistently negative that it cracks me up.

No offense taken. It's a persona. Figure if I set my expectations low, I can't be disappointed by anything.

I figured. I count on you to keep me level throughout the season.

I'm not really a condescending @sshole in real life either. Ask anybody, anyone that says different is an ignorant prick.

Agreed. Cool unis too. And they play in the Alamodome. Loved being them in NCAA Football haha

Ha, same here. I've played a few seasons as a coordinator and then head coach at UTSA. Texas State is also a favorite team, but their venue isn't as cool as the Alamodome. That said, I'm not sure I have much love for Coker. He was a former Miami coach, so he must be permeating evil of some kind.

Love the humble-brag by Forde in the original post. Beautifully done.
