I'm not arguing about the SEC so you can put away your bowl stats and national championships. If I was making an argument that they weren't the best overall conference then you would be correct in jumping all over me. (Though I will say that as a guy who's lived in the South my entire life, the "SEC is better than all" mantra still existed before your resurgence, it was just based in "Well we have to play each other so we always lose a few and those other schools get the benefit" logic.) I'm only arguing that saying Texas A&M would've suddenly become this power house in the Big 12 is awfully convenient for your SEC mindset. Same with your Missouri argument. You say "well they only won all those games because everyone ahead of them got hurt and their first year was more indicative of their actual place." Well that's kind of silly because, 1) talk about convenient for your mindset of SEC dominance again!, and 2) Missouri lost their starting quarterback a few weeks before the season their first year in and if I remember right had their own rash of unfortunate injuries. (You're a Bama fan so I'll explain, on other teams, where we don't have Mac Trucks disguised as running backs, the quarterback position is seen as quite important.).

Don't know if that is personal or not but since I am a Bama fan, I can remind you that the Mac truck rbs have done quite well in the scheme of things the last 4-5 years. Also, when comparing them Mac trucks this season to the Irish rbs, there isn't much difference other than height. Yeldon is slightly heavier at 220 but Drake is around the same weight as both Bryant and Folston at 205. As far as QB, can't argue there. AJ won two BCS titles and played lights out both seasons. Greg M. - did what he needed to win his title. Give me solid QB play, a great run game, good defense and special teams, and you can have your JFF or M. Mariotta.

The season is too early to decide who is the best teams, conferences, etc. We can decide that at the end of the year when we know how each did. For preseason polls and projection purposes, it is fun for us fans. Otherwise, it is meaningless.

I was complimenting your running backs. I was making a light joke about how for most teams losing your starting qb just before the season is kind if a big deal, but since you're a Bama fan you might not understand because your team is so loaded.

Tommy - you are a lot of fun on here but let me make something clear. I always root for the SEC to lose and would love nothing more than for Bama to lose every single game this year. The only reason no one else on here will say that is because we all know the SEC is locked into one of those playoff games and schedules are set up for SEC elite teams to finish the season with no more than 2 losses.

The thing you may not admit, the playoff system pretty much ensures the SEC stops winning 90% of the championships.

Thanks for clarifying. Good luck this weekend.

You are correct that the playoff system probably eliminates the SEC from getting more than one team in. In the recent past, however, the SEC would have had more than one make it in the four team system. As far as who wins this year or the years to come, guess we got to wait and see. I have always held the position that I want to see the two best teams play at the end of the year. What conference that is doesn't matter. If it's the SEC, the great. If not, oh well.

As far as you cheering against the SEC and Bama... I don't have an issue with that. That's why we are fans. I choose to cheer for ND when they play and that's why I spend some time out here on this board. In addition, as I have stated in the past, I do like the other non-football discussions out here as well. Good luck this weekend.
