Nate Silver trying to post a story about being arrested and relating it to Ferguson, and it gets the ultimate backfire on Twitter.

There was no frenzy until the cops showed up in riot gear to a candlelight vigil. There is no rioting now. Everything is counteracting the militaristic actions by cops.

There will be plenty of time for vigils. You don't need one while there is so much tension. Everyone go home, get some rest, let the investigation happen and let's see where that gets us. The shooting no matter the cause is tragic, the rioting and looting was stupid and does way more harm than good .

No it was the best time to do it since it just happened. You can't tolerate cops killing your community. It lets them get away with more of this.

The investigation has been ongoing for days and the initial incident report hasn't been released. That's a big freaking deal and is what has a lot of people angry. The police department is withholding a public record in a shooting of a black kid by a cop.

No one even knows for sure what really happened, its all he said she said as of right now. You can't said the cop was in the right or wrong as of now.

No but we have seen enough cops murder innocent people and the militarization of the police, as well as eyewitnesses talking about Brown's death, to make everything boil over into a protest against the police in this country and how they demand to be treated like demigods and are armed to the teeth to "protect" and "serve" a town that hadn't had a fatal shooting until a cop pulled out his gun.

New Black Panther Party inciting the violence? Jon Belmar seems like an odd person to be in the New Black Panther Party.

It's a potential murder investigation so hopefully they wouldn't slap some shit together to give some mob a hasty result.

Where in the hell do you live? I'd recommend moving to the United States if possible. Here in the US the vast majority of police officers are very decent hard working public servants. Sure there are a few bad apples, but by far they are the minority.

They might be the minority, but there is still police brutality daily in this country, especially against the poorest and most disenfranchised people in the country. I've worked with cops and I know that some are very normal people while others are hateful and bigoted. It is probably the minority, but it's enough that people like Michael Brown are getting gunned down with their hands up in the air because he didn't treat the cop like a god. One killing is too many, and we do not need to be funding these armies.

No I understand that. The investigation has to take time, of course, and I wouldn't ask for anything compromising to be released. What I'm talking about is the actual incident report. After the shooting a police officer would have shown up, taken statements, and filed an incident report. That is public record. It wasn't made public and then days later the department cited "death threats" as a reason to withhold it. In other police shootings the incident report has been made public, and it should be here.

So do you think this police officer woke up that morning and said " I feel like going out and kill an innocent kid today". Or do you think the officer was faced with a intense situation that required him to make a life changing decision in the matter of seconds? Bottom line no one except for the cop and Michael's friend know the real story.

If you want to get fired up about brutality and murder you shouldn't pick one of the smallest contributors of it as your cause. One killing is too many, but I'd rather see vigils and protests for the approx 17000 people murdered each year by thugs and wackos.

This young man's death is terrible and I hope the truth is found, but even tragedy needs prospective.

It should be the most preventable since these people are supposed to protect and serve, not kill and point weapons at peaceful protesters and imprison journalists for not leaving a McDonald's quickly enough.

Yeah not all teachers, priest's, politicians and judges are honest either, but the vast majority are. There are bad seeds everywhere.

Hmmmm maybe I shouldn't have thrown politicians in there. :)

Antonio French, who has done a great job getting video of Ferguson, is in police custody now for whatever unconstitutional reason.

Police refuse to say why.

If the basic human rights identified in the Constitution of this country don't apply to all, soon they won't apply to any. The situation in Ferguson should be alarming to any freedom loving American.

What about the cops that get gunned down by thugs for no reason? I know of one personally.

The Ferguson situation is out of control. I have no clue what they are doing and nor do they. I deal with protests every day and it never gets outta control.

Sadly, this photograph could very well be mistaken for an Israeli military operation in the West Bank or the Gaza Strip.

It's some tear gas at night in a well lit area and it makes for a neat photo. It comes nowhere close to Israel unless you're extremely uninformed. The press is trying to blow this up for ratings. They are taking advantage of a bad situation and trying to incite more incidents for their cameras. No incidents makes for bad ratings.

In hurricanes they go stand in deep puddles and between buildings where the wind is stronger for better pictures. They are doing this in Ferguson too.

Maybe I'm missing something, but where is the mocking? The guy with his hands in the air?

"Photographer seems to be spinning what appears to be nothing to incite even more anger in Ferguson".

There's plenty to be pissed about, a guy in full swat with his hands in the air is pretty far down the list, not matter what scenario they throw out there to incite the crowd.
