Anyone else get the feeling Charlie is sitting on him,
I can't help but think he's not showing his hand with Munir and how he is going to use him in our attack...Coach has to like the speed but has opted not to use it to this point... Can it be simply from an experience aspect? Or can it be Charlie doesn't what to tip his hand unless forced...

Do I have to say it out loud? Am I overestimating #25's possible impact here? Is anyone else thinking what I am thinking??

he's a freshman. as much talent as he's got, there's a lot to learn. he's fast, but college football is a MUCH different game than high school. we may see more of him during the rest of the season, but i don't think weis is hiding him. it's just that he's not ready to get a greater responsibility in the offense yet. pass blocking is probably key here, and darius does that pretty well.

I've been wondering this for a while, and when I saw 25 in on a key goal line play... that was blown dead... it furthered my thoughts on the matter... Before the end of the year I got a feeling Munir will have the ball in his hands in some pretty big situations...

i think if munir was as good as charlie acted like he was he would have had a few more meaningful carries. idk if he's our future featured back, in fact i hope he's not because of his size. i think he should only be a complement.

although, he could have had a TD on that wheel route had UCLA not gotten to Brady immediately for the 100th time.

aldridge is probably nd's feature back of the future. munir prince is a scatback-type, it seems. should be good, but not featured

oh don't get me wrong, not as a feature back, but certainly as a weapon that must be accounted for, I can see him REALLY opening up the offense a bit if he gets some big plays under his belt and is used as a decoy later down the road... it's offical, I'm predicting he'll have some PT in the three games heading into SC and then be used as a decoy/ sideline to sideline threat in L.A. and of course be a big reason we throw 50 on the S poiled C hildren....

that's just how it's gonna go down gents...

i don't think that his performance this year warrants any more action. what has he done to earn PT???

another reason is that he is a freshman and prolly doesn't know the entire playbook yet.

The abilities of both Prince and Aldridge are yet to be determined...for gosh sakes, they haven't played meaningful time as yet. Why they haven't played is the mystery! Play them against the toughtest teams we face,,,not the patsies..that won't tell us anything! They both need to see action in the next 4 games, regardless.

It may be a mystery to us, but I'm guessing it's less of a mystery to the coaches who watch them practice every day. I doubt they are sitting on any players who can help right now without good reason.

As BGIF stated in another thread, I don't believe Prince has even made it back to the line of scrimmage when he's put his hands on the ball. Right now, I think Prince simply needs a year of seasoning and a little more bulk.

Agreed, but an end around may be a nice little play for the Irish with Prince.

Agreed, but an end around may be a nice little play for the Irish with Prince.

I believe he's already run one for no gain. From the backfield he hasn't been able to turn the corner. Speed isn't supposed to get strung out.

From CW's hype I envisoned Prince being used on Rocket like plays, not necessarily Rocket like performance numbers. Plays like Flanker Screens, Quick Outs, Toss Sweeps, and Misdirection from the backfield.

He's played in 8 games missing MSU, Navy, and Army. He's got 15 carries gaining 34 yds while losing 13 yds for a net gain of 21 yds and 1.4 yds/carry.

If he's got hands, he may not have learned all the plays but a Flanker Screen isn't complicated. How difficult is a post pattern? "Munir run as far as you can when you beat him, look up the ball will be waiting for you?" Common how many passes has he caught? How many pass plays has his speed been utilized on?

Up until recently ND's looked for a #3, #4, etc receiver. ND's looked for #2 RB? There have been opportunities galore for a speed runner or receiver. He doesn't have to be a wideout he can catch passes as a Flanker, as a TB.

As for Charlie hiding him, please. Charlie will hide plays but he's not hiding players with a struggling running game nor when he's looking for receivers - lining up at any position.

He may have all the future in the world but in 8 games he hasn't shown a hint. Think back to other players as freshman. Walker gets chided on this board as a "mediocre" back. He made a mark as soon as he stepped on the field. Julius Jones didn't see the field until midseason of his freshman year. He was quickly noticed. They don't have to have 100 yd games and take their 2nd or 3rd carries to the house. But they do have to make positive yardage.
