Im still bitter enough about the Olympics to want to smash the living shit out of the northern mexicans... What are the odds LAX...

Canada is the only team that can compete with the United States, because they are the only team with an elite faceoff man that can potentially go 50% or better.

On a per possession basis Canada is not appreciably better than the Iroquois, but as you saw when they win faceoffs and can hold the ball like international rules allow it becomes virtually impossible to come back on them if/when they get a lead. And it also throws the opposition completely out of rhythm.

I give the USA a 90% chance of victory. Canada is banged up and doesn't have the athleticism or ballhandlers on offense to get consistent chances against a USA defense that is dialed in. Man for man the United States is substantially better on defense than the Iroquois, and excluding the garbage time goals Canada struggled to get past 10 on the Iroquois in either game. The only chance Canada has of winning is to dominate possession and grab an early lead. It's doubtful that happens. I think the Red, White, and Blue prevail to the tune of 13-7.

This US team has impressed the crap out of me. Their face offs are dominant. Their offense has great spacing, great off ball movement, great ball movement, and great accuracy. Their riding and defense has been pretty relentless. They are just putting on a clinic and have been fun to watch.
Like LAX said, Canada just doesn't have the athletes to match up with the US. I think the US is totally dialed in right now and I expect an 18-9 type of game.

Some heavy games Saturday...

First, Scotland vs. England for 5th place. I mean... it's Scotland vs. England. Enough said. Going to be some fireworks. England had the upper hand in the 2012 Euros. 1 PM Eastern.

Second, Iroquois vs. Australia for third place. If the Iroquois win it'll be their highest finish ever and first time medaling. 4 PM Eastern.

Third, USA vs. Canda for the gold. Best versus best. These teams have split wins for the past decade. Canada's offense just does not look good enough without John Grant Jr. so I'm expecting a USA win. 9 PM Eastern.

This is brutal. It is borderline unwatchable. Canada's offense makes Maryland's offense look like Oregon football. All they do is sit on the ball… How this sport doesn't have a shot clock of some sort is beyond me. Or at least a penalty if the team does nothing but stall.

I'm amazed....They are totally being out played and out coached....
And ya, a shot clock is sooooooo needed in all of lacrosse. Watching them hold on to the ball for that long is ridiculous.

It's pure cowardice and disgraceful. But well within the dumb international rules.

Ya, that game really sucked. Seriously a joke with the TOP, but you can't blame them. They did what they needed to do to win.
I REALLY hope they go to a shot clock in college this coming year!

Thought some Patriots fans might find this cool. Bill Belichick is a huge lacrosse fan, and his son played in college. Looks like he teamed up with Warrior to get the Ugandan national team some fresh gear.

Fun story... when I was at ND, one of our assistant coaches was basically responsible for jump starting the Uganda lacrosse program. I still remember helping with the publicity efforts and equipment drives and such... they've definitely come a long way.
