Question? Why are we loading up on all these 3 star players? Star wise this class is suspect, I know stars don't mean anything.

Why are you questioning it if you "know" they don't mean anything. You just completely contradicted yourself bud.

SO that in 4 years you're not bitching and moaning about how MSU took a bunch of guys we should have offered. We're locking a midwest base we know will come so we can chase the big fish later but still have a solid core.

I have a sneaking suspicion ND doesn't view him as a 3 star . Somebody should stop this coaching staff before it is too late.

If I hear one more word about how we didn't take Enoch Smith when we had the chance, I'll lose it.

Why don't you have one green "rep" square to your name?

I would also call Cage and Taylor projects as well as in both are players that have a higher floor than Mokwa, Dew - Treadway, and Tiassum...but they are still players that a top 25 program should redshirt. Trumbetti is an edge player that i do like but i think he wouldve been better as an OLB in a 3-4.

The coaches have already told Cage he's playing....

Cage is a stud. And Trumbetti would have gotten to big to play OLB probably. The kid came in built like a tank...add two years of college weight training to that frame, are you kidding me?

And in addition to ALL of that, Kelly takes what he wants, as to how it fits his plans and what he sees in player development (potential). That is why the pedal hit the metal and ND has gone from 0-60 in seconds, in terms of personnel drafted (and signed) in the NFL. Don't look now but ND went from some, mostly washouts in the last years of Weis to 13 players between draft and free agency this year. And ND hasn't had a quarterback drafted since who? That is right! Jimmy Clausen, when BK was just moving in to his office! Think about that!

Ok that makes more sense. I didn't recall it that way. Lucky, I haven't seen Dew-Treadway's tape yet. Where do you put him compared to the other two?

Taylor
Treadway
Tiassum

Well I wasn't expecting this. Welcome Micah.

I'm not sure how aware you are of the strength Taylor possesses. We're going to be pretty deep at DT his freshman year but I bet he'll be able to hold his own inside vs the run.

Funny that Itish Illustrated dropped Treadway from their Defense Master list after Tiassum committed.

I also feel like ND is taking more of a MSU approach along the DL. Look for the guys with the size and athleticism you want plus the desire to play for your team. Bring them in and mix in a few top tier guys.

Exactly. When you get a few studs, they can start for 3 years. In the meantime, depth is key.

If I were to speculate on their future impact I would go:
Micah
Tiassum
Taylor

Stars matter. Anyone have that draft stat from this year?

Something like through 3-4 rounds, 50% of the picks were 4-stars or above, even though 4-stars and above made up like 8% of all recruits.

It might have been 3% actually, I cannot remember.

I wasn't expecting this commit today. Seems this is how this class is stacking up. Many surprises. Welcome, young man!

I am sorry Irish4ever it was just a question. ???? It just seems like we have a lot of 3 star commits. However if you can play you can play, I am sure Van Gorder is getting all the guys that he wants. Is there any tape on this kid? I could not really find any.

Stockton was a highly rated guy with poor measurables. This guy seems the opposite.
