I can see you now manually cutting that patch of grass with scissors and a ruler to make sure each blade is identical in height, rather than using a mower. lol

so how many pounds of mud does that add up to? Only value to me is as a conversation piece and I would likely kill the grass and have all my friends laugh at me. It is a pretty decent chunk of dirt though.

Tradition wise, worthless.

Yeah, from a tradition standpoint it's completely not worth it to buy some crap sod that didn't even make it through a full season of football. If you're going to display it as "The last grass to grace The House that Rockne built" then it would be an accurate statement. Just wasn't worth it to me. However...I bet dshans has a patch of grass that came from Cartier Field back in the day. That would be worth it's weight in gold.

My Dads getting a roll. I wonder if any of them still have some of the lines/numbers painted on them.

From what I heard, no. By the time commencement came around the grass had grown and had not been repainted. It was cut, and hence it was all green by the time it was removed.

I had decided not to purchase. Then went on to the deck to pick up the newspaper on Friday morning, and found a box from ND. I texted my daughter "Did you buy something from ND?" Got one back "Yes. Did you get something from ND?" Planted it in 2 larger planters which are now on our back deck. Had a little left so gave to a another alum. Thinking about putting some yellow mums at the ends of the planters :)
