CBS announced yesterday that Stephen Colbert will take over The Late Show for David Letterman. I don't really watch The Late Show so I'm curious what those who do think about this.

I do watch The Colbert Report and I will be sad to see that show end. I would be curious to hear other's thoughts on that too.

Im excited for it. Never liked Letterman. It will be interesting to see Colbert without his schtick (<-- is that spelled right?)

That's what I'm curious to see too. I don't think I've ever seen him out of character.

There is a 60 minutes interview somewhere with him out of character. Also back in the day when he was a fill in a few times on "Who's Line" that character didn't exist yet.

My only issue with this is that it means one of the great satire characters of our time is ending. I really hope they're able to to a skit where he gets to be "Fox News" Colbert from time to time.

I think this may not end well. If he is too much out of character the young demo may not carry over and if he it too much like Colbert the older demo may not watch thinking that's he's not taking anything serious or too out there for their liking.
That's a fine line he'll have to balance. I do like The Colbert Report, even though I consider myself a conservatives I I honestly do wish him well.

IMO, I think they should have went with John Stewart.

I love Colbert, but I love the Colbert Report. Not the Late Show.

Best case scenario: Colbert makes a perfect host by treading the fine line like poster above mentioned, and Letterman comes back to Ball State to become President.

IMO, I think they should have went with John Stewart.

Stewart gets his laughs bashing the stupidity of Fox on much pretty much every show.
I don't see that being the quality that this show usually tries to accomplish. His liberal push would lose some who don't care to hear about it.

Just my humble opinion.
