New NFL rules include more fumble reviews, higher goalposts

NFL made rule changes to raise the goal post 5 feet.

Loose ball recoveries in the field of play are now reviewable hence the Bowman play from last year's NFC title game would have been reviewable. I think this is a good thing as even though Seattle fumbled themselves the next drive having a monumental blow call like that not being reviewable is wrong in my opinion.

NFL experimenting with extra points from the 20 yard line hence a 37 yard FG attempt in the first 2 weeks of the preseason. Not sure what to think about this.

Also they are supposed to be cracking down on taunting and other player misconduct.

So if both the goal post rule and the extra point rule go into place, PAT's would be the equivalent of 42 yard FG's?

I think they're just extending the length of the arms, so you don't have as many questionable calls when it goes over the uprights.

The uprights move up, not the cross bar is my understanding.

Correct.

We'll see what happens with the 20 yard line rule supposedly it is only a preaseason experiment and I am not sure what happens with 2 point conversions.

Personally I hope they don't mess with the PAT. It may make the game more entertaining on some levels but I know I wouldn't be able to enjoy it knowing it was Rodger Goodell acting like an ass for the sake of acting like an ass and making change for the sake of change (and because Bill Bellichek said so).

What Bill wants, Bill gets. The 5-yard extension on goal posts was also his proposal.

5-yard extension is a no-brainer really. I know the Pats-Ravens game in 2012 came down to a FG over an upright and there was one this past year as well I believe in some game.
