Trying to ask again, but will this be available on demand tomorrow on ESPN3?.
Martini is a stud. Best LB here. There's a reason he was named captain. Hayes plays violently and with an attitude. Sykes has struggled getting off blocks but is awesome in coverage.
Greer is all of 6'3" and maybe on his way to 6'4". He's a lot skinnier than I thought he'd be, but definitely has a great frame to grow into. I think he could play any of the LB spots, but I'd be really surprised if he ever moved to DE.
On the other hand, Hayes is definitely not the 6'5" I've seen him listed as. Sykes is probably 6'1"-6'1.5". I don't think he's 6'2".
But, speaking of massive, Montel McBride is MASSIVE. Craig Evans is also a big boy.
I know this game is on ESPN3 live, but are they going to have the replay available to watch on demand for ESPN3? My roommates are making me watch the Olympic opening ceremony.
I looked this morning and I don't see it on replay, but I am not too familiar with ESPN 3 or ESPN viewing on line, so I may be wrong. Just thought I'd look for you.
Interesting about your thoughts on Greer. I thought he was just about right all the way around. He was bigger than I thought. I know he has some work to do at ND, but I thought he was a pretty good specimen for a senior in high school, last October. Alex Anzalone was the guy I always thought was too skinny.
Actually, I found it and am watching right now. Haha Thanks anyways!
I guess I was just comparing him to some of the other division 1 ILB recruits I've seen in person the past 5 years and he wasn't as 'bulky' or built at this stage as almost all of the guys I've been around. I wasn't being critical, just making an observation. And, as I said, he has a great frame. I have no doubt Longo will add the bulk he needs in a short period of time.
But, in today's recruiting world, and the way the staff has recruited certain heights and weights on the defensive side of the ball during the Diaco years, I think people get too caught up in measurables and become less concerned with what kind of football player a recruit actually is. After what I saw last night, I have zero concerns about Greer. The kid can flat out play the game. Combine that with the type of leader and person he is (talking to him, he couldn't have been nicer), I think he has the chance to be a special player at ND. And, going by Kelly's comments on NSD, the staff has known this for a while.
Let me know:
1) where you found that on line; I'd like to watch it again, focusing on our guys more -- hard to tell last night with the crappy camera work, where our guys were until it was too late; and
2) your thoughts on our guys.
My reps to you!
I was just surprised. I remember this kind from the player walk at the USC game and he was in the first group of recruits behind the team, and as I remember Foxxy and Carlo were toward the end of the players. So they were close. I almost didn't recognize Greer because he was so much bigger than I expected. That is all. Different places different times and different perspective. I am glad for your observations. All of them. And it makes me feel better that you made the comment with the point that your concerns were well allayed.
I found it under ESPN3 on the xbox one ESPN app. Im sure its on the ESPN3 site under replays.
In regards to how our recent signed looked, I thought they looked great. Jay Hayes looked a little leaner than I thought he'd be, but my overall impression was speed. The guys all looked faster than their tape and Martini was so much faster than I thought he would be. Fantastic instincts as well. Nike Sykes is all athleticism and will be a great player when he can refine his technique a bit (I.e. getting off blocks). I like the way BK is recruiting linebackers with good instincts and good athleticism instead of just big bodies like Carlo and Fox.

Good stuff, Bogs. But just to clarify...Nothing about his physique concerned me. He just looked skinnier to me than I thought he'd be. Just making an observation, not concerned at all because I know how much a player's body changes once they get in a college program. I personally made the biggest gains of my life during my freshman year of college, and I believe almost all college football players would say the same thing. My HS weight training program paled in comparison to my college program and I ate like shit in HS.
My key question for my hypothesis is how fast do they look?
I thought we were on the same page! How did you think they looked side to side? How quick did they look reading keys, etc.?
