Biedschied and Grant totally fucked us.

Eh, Biedschied had bust written all over him the first time I saw him play and that impression never left me. I am at a loss to explain his prospect rating.

Now, Grant hurts a whole heck of a lot but it isn't the difference between ND's current state and a 20 win season, IMO. Brey's short bench habit makes the Irish more vulnerable to personnel losses and ND badly needs to find a useful big man.

This season was going to be disappointing regardless. Now it may be a disaster given it's ND's first year in the ACC. It may fossilize perception of the program.

The scary thing is that next season could be worse. We have no quality depth at the forward spots and the Grant situation is ambiguous. We lose Atkins and Sherman (who sucks, but he's arguably better than the alternative).

I think Jackson will step up and be more aggressive next season, which also is bad because I think he'll do well enough to declare after his sophomore season. I like Auguste better than Sherman, his only problem is that he is sometimes a bit #RECKLESS and soft in the paint, and he dances too much with the ball.

We could be scary athletic next year with:

PG: Jackson
SG: Grant
SF: Connaughton
PF: Burgett
C: Auguste

Bench:

Vasturia
Beachem
Torres?/Katenda?/Geben?

They should have lost to BC today, but didn't. So there's that.

VJ showed today I think what Brey had in mind for Burgett earlier this year with the stretch 4 position. He hit some huge buckets (although, he's nearly as bad on help defense as Grant was. Actually, he's worse. On one of the backdoor cuts, you could see him in the picture literally walking to the ball).

Atkins was amazing in the second half.

Who'd of thought the of our 3 freshman, down the stretch we'd rely more on Vasturia and Beecham instead of DJ (although, since our best player is currently occupying DJ's natural position, this makes a bit more sense).

Let's hope this miracle sparks something.

Kind of a glass half empty view of that game. I was there and it was the first time I've seen the team put their heads down and get a close game back. Did they play well for most of the game? Not really. But there were a lot of encouraging things I saw, especially out of Beachem and Auguste.

Feel great for Atkins also. Nice Senior moment for a guy who's been in a tough position.

Funny that Dragicevich transferred because he wasn't happy with 20 minutes a game of PT, and at BC he's getting less on an even worse team.

Crappy year, but always nice to beat BC in anything. Plus we're getting great experience for 3 of our frosh.

Does suck for him. However, I believe he transferred because after Biedschied came in, Brey told him he would be getting much less playing time than 20/game. Ironic that Biedschied then left as well. Kind of a Kiel-Golson situation...

True. Good point. I remember he said he had a discussion with Brey about his role moving forward, and Brey said he couldn't promise him more playing time, and then he transferred.

Didn't Dragicevich leave because Connaughton was taking his PT as that year wore on?

It was a combination of things, but basically yeah... he saw a log jam at SF and was worried about riding the pine.

Kind of our last hurrah tonight at Syracuse. I'm not dumb enough to say we're going to win, but we should be able to keep it very close. Cuse will have a bit of a Duke hangover, and hopefully they're just going through the motions and we come out and shoot it well against their 2-3.

We're 12 point underdogs, but we've got a solid history against the #1 ranked team.

You serious, Clark? What does that game/team have in common with tonight's game other than the fact that Syracuse is #1?

Because they're still playing the game is reason enough to have at least some faith.

We were 11-8 before that Syracuse game. And if I had the time and the motivation to go digging through old forum posts, I'm sure someone pissed on the notion that we could win that game as well.

I didn't predict a win. I don't expect Jack Cooley to come walking through that door. But to dismiss the notion before the game even starts?

I will not post a word on this site for a week if we beat Syracuse tonight.*

*The week will begin after NSD. Not missing that.

Well, I think your posting is safe.

Down 13 at the half.

Syracuse is probably unbeatable when they go 6-9 from 3.

We went up 12-9 and couldn't grab any momentum after that. I don't care if we're playing Cuse or Canisius, this team can't guard the perimeter ever. No idea why Brey even runs zone for extended amounts of time.
