Tennessee freshman TE Lee Smith was arrested on campus in Knoxville, TN, and charged with drunken driving, making him the fourth player on the team to be arrested since May. The 18-year-old Smith refused a breathalyzer test.

Wow four guys thats nuts. I would have never guessed this. I thought Tennesse was a pretty good program. Hopefully this pushes Donald a little closer to us. If we snag him I think he is the best linebacker out of our others already on board.

I believe it was a year or two ago, there were over a dozen Vols that had gotten into some kind of police/arrest/disciplinary trouble.

Now, what makes this bad is that they are coming off of a horrendous losing season by their standards, so these off the field tiffs are that much more recognized by the folks who want to get Phil Up My Plate Fulmer out of there.

But I don't know that this all has anything to do with Donald. If he wants to be close to home, he's going to stay close to home regardless of all this nonsense. I think his parents are pushing him north because they're both educators and realize what ND can do after football.

Being local, I'm sure they're aware of the things going on in Knoxville.

This really seems to be spreading. Honestly, this last week has been surreal. Oklahoma, Tennessee, Miami, etc...

All of these teams have player issues...and all at once. It's almost surreal.

Was the "see if I can get arrested week?"

I will jump for joy if we can get both of these players. They are both big time talents and seem to definitely be ND caliber people.

Maybe it was, being the week/weeks before fall camp begins.

Funny how all of these teams suspend these players, and USC just lets stuff slip by.

See Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush, Dwayne Jarrett, and Mark Sanchez.

Huh??

Hey Subway

Hey Subway

That's not the entire story on the TE getting arrested. Living in Tennessee and caught the late local news. What got the kid pulled over was the toy oozy he was pointing at the cop and waving outside the car window. My 6 year old wouldn't do something that stupid. Living in Vol country, this news has been joked at work all day today. I hope Donald is paying attention to all this bad news coming out of Knoxville.

Here as an interesting side bar on an ESPN story posted today. Enough players have been bounced this summer to start their own team!

OL: J.D. Quinn, Oklahoma
OL: Daniel Inman, Georgia
OL: Cornelius Lewis, FSU
OL: Michael Gates, Miss. St.
OL: Ian Smith, Georgia

Defense
DL: Raymond Henderson, Tenn.
DL: Charles Burns, Miss. St.
DL: Quinton Wesley, Miss. St.
DL: Jonathan Najm, Ark. St.
LB: Tray Blackmon, Auburn
LB: Kevin Sears, Auburn
LB: Juwan Simpson, Alabama
LB: Marvin Mitchell, Tenn.
LB: Matt Robinson, Iowa St.
CB: Derek Pegues, Miss. St.
CB: Tanard Jackson, Syracuse

Ramonce Taylor takes the cake on that one. He's the kid who had a huge amount of marijuana! I think it was several pounds. He's going to prison for that one.

Cedric Benson had a lot of weed on him a few years ago and we all know about R. Williams, so its not the first time a Texas RB has done that. That team makes me laugh so hard....you could also add D. Jarrett to that list sort of, essentially it could be about endless.

Jesus, Team Thug Life would conquer. They need a bit of help though at QB and WR. I hear Mark Sanchez decommitted, which was a major hit.

It's sponsored by the Alabama Booster Program, Halliburton, and Enron.

20 of 29 are from teams in The South.

Surely a statistical aberration.

Btw, Marcell Frost of Ohio State now replaces Corey Logan at the TE position.

He was suspended for the year. Rumors have it that he might have failed O$U's 3-strike drug policy.

Please don't turn a football thread into your political soapbox. There is a forum for that. A forum that those who choose not to discuss politics on the internet can ignore.

We're all (mostly) on the same team in the football threads. Don't make this attempt to tear us apart.

If you feel the need to spout off, make a LLLLLoyd's big boobs joke or something.

Good post scooper.

I thought tommy was taking a swipe at Tressel/OSU, Carroll/USC, or Shala/Coker/Miami, i.e, "the current administration" at Troublesome U. du jour.

I hadn't read it as a political statement as tommy is quite familiar with the political forum, Mondo Politico in the Leprechaun Lounge, as he's a frequent poster over there.
