300+ in all 3 games. Who would have guessed this. He's one guy who's not to blame for our slow start.

Tonight

21 of 34 61.8% 319 yds 2 TD O Int, QB Eff 160

For the season

66 of 108 61.1% 979 yds 9.1 YPA, 7 TDs TD% 6.5%, 2 Ints INT% 1.85, QB EFF 154.9

Could you imagine if we didn't have the 5-6 drops. Only one really bad throw otherwise a good game from Tommy.

Almost every QB of every team could say that though, so the completion % is pretty fair across the board.

The ASU QB has a WR who alone has 5 drops right now, lol.

Agreed. I am watching that game. I would say 2-3 drops is normal. ASU struggles because they recruit speed not hands.

Canada, you are correct only 2 turnovers. But, we have only played 1 good team. Tommy lights up mediocre to bad teams. And turns into a turnover machine against good teams/defenses. And those 2 pics were against the 1 and only good team/defense we played.

But, we needed a good game from him today and he delivered. We still have to give him his props on when he is suppose to be good against a mediocre team--and is!

Congrats Tommy.

<----This guy. #Reesus

People keep mentioning he only has two turnovers, but that 2nd one at Michigan wasn't even his fault. It was a freak tipped ball. He should be sitting at 1 turnover in 3 games, which is pretty good even if one game was Temple.

I think part of our slow start has been the coaching. I haven't liked all of our game plans. Obviously forcing Michigan to throw the ball and trying to stop the run was a bad move in hindsight. Today we came out and played stupid in the 1st half of Purdue, but I think the coaches made some changes in the 2nd half which turned things around like bringing more pressure against Henry (It helped out our secondary too). Tommy will always have some limitations, but he has his strengths too. He rushed for a 1st down tonight :D

No, he was prolific but he was also a 4 year starter.

True, that's kind of the catch though. Not all QBs become 4 year starters. Typically a 4 year starter seems to be the exception to the rule if you look at all FBS QBs, but you always hear about the big time freshmen like Mariotta, Hogan, Money Badger, etc. I think it'll be hard for any QB to come to ND and break Quinn's record simply because you'll need 4 years to do it probably, and any QB that puts up close to his numbers in 3 years will probably be gone by the 4th anyway ala Clausen.

Quinn's numbers all rocketed his last season but then he had to play his first two year in Willingham's West Coast Offense.

Clausen was a year older than most freshman but played with a recently surgically repaired arm and no OLine but had the continuity of 3 years with Weis.

Powlus was a Pro QB and played under 2 head coaches and a half dozen QB Coaches and OCs. He spent his first 3 years in an Option Attack, and the last year in the Davie/Colletto, "We don't know what kind of offense it is ".

Mirer played in an Option Attack.

Jarious Jackson was mixed Option.

Rees is the only one that was not the season starter until his last season.

The funny thing is that Tommy has a very real chance to pass up Clausen by the end of the year. 19 TD passes in 9 possible remaining games isn't a stretch for him for sure. Still...in 125 years of Irish ball theres been one QB to throw 95 passes for TDs and the next closest guy is 35 away from that even...and he wasn't a slouch in the pocket himself. I think even if Golson was around this year, and if you consider the slower pace we play /w running the ball more than Weis did...I don't think Golson would come close to breaking Quinn's 95 TDs.

CBSSports.com in their Ranking of Players and Teams has Tommy Rees #7 this week right behind Manziel.

Tommy Football, who knew?

I read here last night that Rees only wins against mediocre teams. Yawn.

Speaking of mediocre, the third ranked QB Teddy Bridegewater has played against Ohio, not State, the little guys, Eastern Kentucky, and real Kentucky. Next week he has FIU followed by Temple.

Show the Bobcats some respect!!

Paul Newman was an Ohio University Bobcat, until he got expelled in his freshman year for rolling a keg down a hill and it crashing into the Dean's car. Also, Piper Perabo, of USA Network's Covert Affairs, and a serious hottie, is a Bobcat.

Tommy really has played well...I don't think his ceiling goes much higher, but at least he's been consistent

Senior QB Tommy Rees ranks seventh in the FBS in passing yards (969), but no one has thrown for more yards against FBS opponents in 2013.

Rees has 7 completions of at least 32 yards in 3 games.

That's only 4 less than ALL Irish QBs had in 13 games last year.

Yo Pat!

Yo Pat!

Only 2 ND QBs have passed for more than 300 Yds in each of the first 3 games of a season, Rees and Clausen.

With 300 Yds against MSU Rees would be the only ND QB to achieve that in each of the first 4 games of a season.
