Kelly and Diaco in just way over their heads

Sorry folks but Diaco is just not the man.

I want you to think about it. Last year he had two early round draft picks on Defense and two potential first round draft picks on the D line. That is more than any other team short of a LSU or AL has. Nearly every single game was down to the wire. Oklahoma beat itself. Michigan beat itself. There were a ton of really bad teams on ND schedule last year and ND made them look like players. Then they would go out and lose big time to other teams. Stanford we barely beat because of a first year QB and that their strength (run) was our defenses strength.

Say what you want but how does Michigan, without even a full healthy team and three first year players on the Oline, handle ND the entire game long? You do realize that the Center and both guards started their first game last week right? They lost their starting WR and DB and second string RB and yet kicked ND all night long. Our defense was pathetic, plain and simple. That blame has to go to one man, the one who is responsible for developing them...Diaco.

Good programs do not barely win most their games, especially the mid to low tier teams like Purdue and Pitt. Can you possibly imagine what either of those teams would do against an LSU, AL, GA. or Clemson? Do you realize what those four teams would do to ND and Michigan? We are talking 3+ touchdown victories. It would be humiliating just like last years NC game was.

This coaching staff has had what, four years of GREAT recruiting and still are incapable of playing with the big boys. And wont be.

Face it boys, Kelly and Diaco were good for D2 and a soft team like Cincinnati but look at the proof any time one of their teams plays a big boy...that's right...they get their nose wiped.

Flame away.

Speaking of losing big games. Did you get an autograph last year?

So I guess every other coaching staff besides Bama are in over their heads. Come on you can not and will not win them all. Moving toward a play off system will make it easier to make late runs at championships. Early loses like this can and will be overcome. I have faith. Hell we had a chance late. What more can u ask for in a staff? We went down couple scores early in a hostile environment. **** could have gotten real ugly.

No one was complaining last year- until the Alabama game.Nothing wrong with the coaching staff.ND is rebuilding so give it time.

I feel like our D is behind the curve because the replacements for last years starters never got reps. People like Manti last year, and Tuitt this year, never got pulled for their replacements to get reps. Even for a few plays. I don't see that with other teams. But then again, I don't know what I'm looking at past just the fan side.

I don't think it's coaching but to say ND is rebuilding isn't the case either. We lost 3 starters from a damn good defense last year. There is no reason to take such a big step back. Something isn't right & it needs to be fixed.

Michigan's QB played like RGIII last night. That is not the coaches fault or the defenses fault. We will not face a QB like that every week. There are a few things that need to be tweaked on D as well as on Offense; however, no matter what they do, they cannot stop RGIII. Alabama dealt with the same thing with Jonny football last year. The answer is for ND to recruit QB's of that caliber in the future.

It IS the defense's fault that we lost, last night. But it doesn't mean that the defense is bad, or that we have to start making wholesale changes to the starting lineup. They had a bad night when they probably could least afford to have a bad night. Hopefully, that is their one for the year, and they get back to form for the rest of the season.

So with all the questions and references to their heights, its obvious they are being exaggerated. That must be why they are in over their heads. If they were as tall as advertised, it wouldn't be.

I don't agree with the general premise of this thread, but count me as really concerned with the defense at this point. Coming off the unimpressive Temple game effort, I thought we would have our hands full against Gardner and the problems he presented. The surprising thing to me is how we are getting gashed in the running game now along with the usual confusion in the secondary. There is problems at every level for Mr. Diaco to work on. Let's see if he can coach up this mess and get it turned around.

my heart doesn't want to agree with this thread, but my conscience is leaning in that direction. I don't understand how the defense can be so inept in so many ways this year. The Temple QB had a great game against us!!!!! Gardner is no RGIII, but we sure made him look like him!!!!! I've been a die-hard fan for 40+ years and what I see this year is scarily similar to what we have seen for almost 20 years. Last year was fun, but as we know, the stars aligned for the Irish.

Always considered the originator of this thread to be a troll:

From the avatar with Elisha Cuthbert and the 'Bama touch-up' (explained that he likes her, but as was pointed out by ?GITF? he is using the photoshopped picture and not the original. Why???)

Couldn't find even ONE positive thing to say about the team in all of last year's 12-0 regular season run (not hard to check on someone's posting history when they have less than 70 posts)

NC game was between ND and Bama (a state he lives in and an iconic team that ND hasn't played in ages), and not one post about the game leading up to it

If I joined a Michigan board, and then posted that 'we' (meaning Michigan fans) are lucky to have come out with a win last night, helped out by:
-at least one horrific PI call,
-some other interesting calls and non-calls keeping drives alive,
-Norfleet fumbling a punt that bounces right back to him - unlike Riddick in 2011)
-ND not executing in the red zone

....I'd be banned or labeled as a troll in seconds

I know, I know, call on me!

ND should recruit the meatheads the SEC teams rely on year in and year out. You know the ones that can't get into Stanford, Northwestern, ND...wait...nevermind.
