Bad thread. Here comes the meltdown when it's a game and the crowd is stunned

So Russell gets used like a rented mule, none of our DBs can turn their head when in coverage, and like usual the offense stalls inside the 20... and it's Diaco's fault. Gotta ya!!!!

I love Diaco,,,,
But he was outcoached tonight, didn't adjust well, and frankly needs to go get a hair cut.

Lol I dont know what people want from Diaco

The players didnt make the plays

To prepare our players for the read option. They had no idea what they were doing. They clearly have not been coached to stop mobile QBs.

Also it's easier to blame a coach than a kid. He deserves it though. He's been overrated since day 1.

FWIW, this is HereComeTheIrish. He deleted his account and reincarnated himself as a total tool bag.

Yeah... BUT.... scheme was awful in the first half. He put the players in the position to succeed in the second half. And they came up short.

Yeah, I agree with this and the spirit of this thread even if I don't agree with the "colorful" language.

Look, I spent a whole lot of time watching games against mobile QBs for when I wrote this and looking at the stats. We just do not defend them well. Period. I said in the game day thread that I thought there was a chance that we got steamrolled and everything in my "worst case" scenario basically happened except that they finished with 40 points instead of 42.

There are a lot of reasons why we suck, but the one I always come back to is that our ILBs are not athletic enough to be of value against a mobile QB if used how they typically are in coverage. We end up basically play 9v11 when we have them drop in coverage. Either get them off the field or bring them on blitzes/delayed blitzes or something. You can't just leave them useless in no man's land. When we got aggressive in the second half it seemed to work. Michigan only had 2 TDs and one of those drives was very close to being stopped.

In other news, Lebron flops, Tebow prays, and Kaliel's milkshake brings all of the boys to the yard. HCTI was always a toolbag.

Regarding the "Coach can't help it if the corners don't turn their heads" argument that pops up frequently: Yes he can. Isn't part of a coaches job to teach players technique? It's not all gameplanning and playcalling. This is a theme from Gary Gray to the present. Is Notre Dame incapable of recruiting corners who can make plays, or is Notre Dame incapable of coaching up corners to make plays? It has to be the latter. Russell was in the receiver's pocket more than once and just failed to get himself in position. Getting in position is not natural- it is taught.

I thought I was the only one who couldn't stand HCTI. He wasn't funny at all and I don't know why people humor guys like that.

He was one of the guys who wouldn't talk football, and added nothing to the board outside of football. Dshans is the only one I can think of that pulls it off. Dshans cracks me up and he rarely if ever talks about football. Dshans is a boss.

**** Michigan.
