More proof that Weis is always innovative with his recruiting ideas:
Last week Will Yeatman picked up an offer from Notre Dame to play lacrosse.
Yeatman is a two-time all-league performer as an OT his sophomore year and tight end as a junior. The 6-foot-6, 255-pound tight end from San Diego, Calif., is regarded as one of the top lacrosse players in the country. He also hails as a top pass catching tight end. That versatility caught the eye of the Notre Dame football coaching staff as the Irish extended a very unconventional offer to Yeatman just last week. Yeatman's unique scholarship would position him to play lacrosse as a scholarship player upon enrolling at Notre Dame while still working with the football team, although he would not play in any games in 2006. After his freshman season, Yeatman would then receive a full scholarship to play football allowing him a full four years of eligibility. As a junior, Yeatman caught more than 25 passes and averaged 12.5 yards per catch. He scored four times. His size and pass-catching ability earned him more than 20 scholarship offers to play football in college. Michigan, Nebraska, Arizona State, Maryland, Oregon State, Arizona, San Diego State, Boston College, North Carolina and Duke are several of the schools that have extended offers.
