Just watched the video on this kid. Could be a gamebreaker as a DB with his 6'4" frame and 4.4 speed. Some of his plays on the ball were super. Definitely someone to keep an eye on as he camps more.

He's a running back, but I could envision him being a WR at the next level.

Tremendous player that appears to be growing into himself and hasn't really topped out. This is a kid who will have a lot of possible positions depending on where he ends up.

Rivals is saying that he is a fast riser after the recent combine/camp out in Cali.

I like this guy a lot. Seems like he can be plugged into various positions on both offense and defense.

Is he really that fast?

Is he really that fast?

The newspaper here says he posted a 4.3 - 40 meter at a Ventura Co. local combine.

Indeed. He ran a 4.31 at the Ventura Combine. Boy has wheels considering his size. He is one of the most intriguing prospects to me right now.

Coach Polian was in to pickup film on him a week or so ago, so hopefully an offer will be coming soon for the kid. I think he has superstar written all over him.

Malachi Lewis, a Rio Mesa (Oxnard, Calif.) running back/receiver, has also picked up some more offers, with Nebraska, Utah, Oregon State and Arizona all having offered the versatile offensive star. Lewis, at 6-4, 215, has the chance to play in either the backfield or split wide in college.

Malachi just submitted his transcripts to Notre Dame to look at, however, it could be awhile before he gets an offer as he just took the SAT recently. He does carry a 3.5 GPA.

Just read that the staff wants him at RB, hopefully he can be our answer at the RB position. Seriously, 4.31 ? 6'4" ? RB ? This kid could be a total freak of an athlete.

How much of a chance do we really have with him?

he also ran for over 2,000 yards as a junior in cali, so the kid has the skills. what about LB?

He seems a little tall to be a RB, but he would be tough to defend coming out of the back field to catch a pass with his speed and height. Imagine trying to defend with a 2 or 3 WR set and this guy as RB on a play action and have him catch the ball as the WRs and TE(s) would be covered. This is the type of speed I like to see with the recruits we are going after. Weis could have a lot of fun with a guy like this.

Make the offer predicated upon achieving an acceptable SAT score....in short, show the desire and interest in making him IRISH.

This is what ND needs to do in order to fix their speed problem. Malachi looks to be a super Chris Perry boasting his 4.3 speed out of the backfield! I hope we pursue him hard! -don

RB, LB, WR, and DB. Mr. Versatility.

Check out this blurb from a scout article on the B2G Program.

Malachi Lewis, who spent Friday with the running backs, showed his versatility (he’s being recruited at four different positions). Lewis has good size and good football knowledge, as well as being coachable and made a seamless transition working with the corners. On two consecutive reps, he jammed the receiver at the line of scrimmage, knocking down the receiver both times, hindering the timing route. With an award given out for “Most Versatile Player” at the end of the week, Lewis threw his name into the ring for that honor.
B2G founder Henry Bell is coaching the defensive backs at the camp and was impressed with Lewis’ performance on Saturday. “Malachi did a real good job at corner today. I think he’s a DB in college because he’s so rangy and big,” said Bell.

Emphasis added.

Safety. Apache Linebacker. I'd love to see him on defense.

Hopefully the Blue and Gold hat gets thrown into the ring soon. In the event Harrison Smith takes Tennessee, young Lewis could be a nice get instead.

"USC told me to call them when I want to be a Trojan," Lewis said. "They told me that over a month ago."
USC is like a bad 70s disco. Shag carpet, watered down liquor. Gag me.

Dude, how could you not want to go there and hear Ken Norton barking at you like a dog during practice? And in the middle of drills, Lindsey Lohan's jugs start jiggling all over the sidelines? Class load light, luxury room and board and Pete Carroll's charisma?

Anybody else take this as a slight toward USC? Or am I just reading with my own bias?

If it is, it is freakin classic. Sounds like a kid who can see through all of the Hollywood bullcrap, and wants to make something of his time in college.

So I'm not the only one who sees it. How arrogant, "Call us when you want us." Then follows a month of crickets chirping. I think it's funny.

USC will always get a good portion of the 4 and 5 star kids. Within the past several months, it seems that the allure of the University of Southern California has diminished slightly, and when you accompany that with the "Rise of the Irish", it's giving these kids something to think about. We all know that the differences between USC and ND are like night and day, but the great athlete is again interested in playing in South Bend.

As far as the players running through the tunnel, I don't know what violations there are, but I do know that the ASSistant coaches looked like a bunch of up-all-night, caffeine over-dosed, hand clapping, pompous, cheerleading wanna-be fruit cups, that are dancing around like someone just lit their shoe laces on fire. Ol Petey plays his pied pipe and the mice follow. What a bunch of horses a$$es.

Wait, are you describing the USC coaches or the ND Rivals board?

The more I think about it, this kid scares me. Anybody named after that creepy red head on Children of the Corn gives me the heebie jeebies.

disclaimer-anybody named Malachi, please take no offense. This from a guy who just named his son Elijah. (so far, no great prophecies)

Malachi Lewis- No interest?

Malachi Lewis- No interest?

I read in the local paper that Malachi Lewis, RB, ( currently listed @ 6-3", 225 lbs, with a 4.3 40 yd. & a 10.8, 100 meters), named 11 colleges that are talking to him & N.D. is not one of them! I thought he was the real deal! Have we lost interest in this kid?

Local papers tend to be very inaccurate. They could mean he has 11 offers.
