Eric Holder to Announce Major Criminal Law Reforms on Monday. It's About Time this Administration Caught Up with the States. | American Civil Liberties Union

I didn't see any discussion on the board yet regarding this topic. It seems like we may actually have some change in marijuana scheduling at least, so we can finally get some real data and form some more scientifically verified conclusions. While everyone may not agree with legalization, I think everyone can agree that we need to schedule it properly, so we can study it.

Also, I just watched Gupta's CNN Documentary, which seems to be perfectly timed with this. It was very well done to sway a little public opinion IMO. Are they trying to appease people because of the NSA thing? Is the terrorist alert for embassies simply to justify the widespread domestic surveillance? Do these things really link with pot, Griff? I don't know, but it's all fair game.

Anyone who is against legalization is a total idiot in my book. There, I said it.

I'll guess he's going to say that the federal government will honor state's laws regarding marijuana and not persecute medicinal cannabis use. I'll also wager a push to make it a schedule 3 drug.

The frustrating thing here is that the GOP will move to immediately fight for continued marijuana criminalization for political posturing.

Agreed. My only issue here is that it really does impact one's driving skills (not to the extent of alcohol, but still), and I really wish there was some sort of breathalyzer equal for marijuana for drivers. But, I agree very much that it should be legal.

Basically, you're much more dangerous driving while texting or tired, or even driving while angry.

I've only ever driven high once and it was too weird for me to ever do again. It was a mile down the road in a 25mpg zone and I drove 15mph max. Just, weird.

To be fair driving high can be like driving tired if weed affects you like that. It's not as dangerous as being drunk or texting, but it still shouldn't be legal IMO. My focus goes away when I'm high so I won't drive. Other people I know are perfectly fine driving high.

I, along with a buddy, may have accidentally inhaled 5 joints one night in our youth. A seven mile trip home took 45 minutes. We took turns driving. I roared down a 2 mile stretch of four lane at 25 mph. Apparently we woke his mom up when we came in at 3:30.

At 6:00, she woke us up and told us breakfast was ready...... pork brains and eggs. She was not a woman to be messed with, was the last time I may have accidentally inhaled the substance. Also the last time I ate brains and eggs.
