I don't like the Washington Redskins or any other name they go by in the future.

That said, I have a close friend who is Maliseet. He thinks the name is a slur. He doesn't lose sleep over it but certainly would support a change if it came about. I would support him as he would have a keener sense of the derogatory nature of the name than I would know.

I think being politically correct is getting a little worn but this isn't some term used in bars or casual conversation, this is a national brand on TV 20 times a year.

I did pull for the indians in Dances with Wolves, I had a great grandmother who was Cherokee. :)

If the Redskins have their names changed, it'll only be a matter of time before the Indians are backed into a corner and have to change their name too, something I'd like to avoid. I, personally, have no problem with the name "Indians," and actually believe it's not a whole lot different than "The Fighting Irish." I understand how the Chief Wahoo logo could be viewed as offensive, and I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to phasing that logo out (which they already are, using the stupid "block C" instead), but I really fail to find anything offensive with the team name.
