How is Bobby Elliott doing? (And Prayers, too)

Coach Elliott seems like a complete gem to me. He has managed to turn a nearly impossible situation on the field into a pretty good show, and the fact that a player of Max Redfield's quality wants to come here with him as position coach says a lot too.

Almost more than that, Elliott is a mature man, not a youngster "on his way up". If Kelly stays longterm, Elliott is a guy [like Hiestand and Martin] who probably stays too --- giving the staff great stability.

I like Elliott a great deal. We're lucky to have a mature coach like him in the secondary.

Simply could not agree more. Seems like a seasoned level headed coach, just what a young group needed. Heal up Coach, see you when your back on your feet.

Six current and former members of the Iowa State football and basketball coaching staffs were tabbed in the report, including current ISU football assistant coaches Shane Burnham and Bill Bleil and former assistants Bobby Elliott and Luke Wells. Elliott is now an assistant at Notre Dame, while Wells is an assistant at Utah State.

Will this effect us? If so How?

To answer the above... won't affect ND (the institution) unless Elliot committed violations here... but it can/will affect Elliot himself. At worst, he gets a 'show cause' and gets fired.

EDIT: After reading the article, it is realllllllly doubtful anything will happen to Elliot unless he was totally out of control (which it doesn't really sound like). A lot of coaches (Mulkey at Baylor, Kiffin, Meyer, etc.) have run afoul of text/call/contact rules and it usually results in a minor slap on the wrist.

EDIT2: Moved posts.

Agree...

Article States: "...The majority of the violations surround phone calls ... the report submitted to the NCAA largely blames the Iowa State athletic administration for failing to educate coaches on proper compliance procedures."

Athletic department in trouble...Coaches, I don't think so. And I think it had to be real bad on their end to point the gun at themselves...I mean not to disparage their being standup guys...but the cynic in me feels like there was probably no other conclusion one could arrive at...ie no place to "sit"... gotta be standup.

I think Kelly and Co. do some remedial stuff with him to CYA, and maybe have him be with another recruiter for a year at worst...JMHO

You know I am the biggest Bobby fan in the ND world. But when Bobby first came here wasn't it Nicky Baratti who said that Bobby called him twice in a row to welcome him aboard? Well now we know the rest of the story. Bobby had a few things on his mind.

It sounds like 98% of the problem at ISTEW was permissible calls that needed to be kept track of on paper in a particular format. And they weren't. How can you punish anyone for that, if it is all you do wrong? Now if there were more serious allegations that some of the assistants perpetrated . . . I agree with you. In a kind way the admin at ND will tell Bobby to keep his pw in order.
