I like this kid's tape! He may not be quite the freak athlete as "the one that got away in '13" but I think he fits the same type of mold. Almost looked to be playing NT on their 3 man front and he got pushed back a few times but his motor just keeps going. He would be a terror on the outside! With limited space is there a better prospect for that position that we are in contention for right now?

Andew Williams is our #1 cat prospect and as he's been told by the staff our #1 overall prospect. However, I do agree that outside of Williams there are a couple of OLB/DE targets that I'd be happy with and Jesse being one of them.

Because I have a hard time imagining he (Williams) is our #1 overall prospect ahead of Peppers, Malik, Hood, and a few others. I suppose it's possible, but I can't see it. I'd love to land him though. Sorry for thread jacking.

we need to be careful to assume that the recruiting sites evaluations/our evaluations are the same evaluations held by the staff. maybe the staff has him rated much higher than others.

Pretty sure he said the staff told him that he was their #1 priority at DE.

Encouraging interview, hopefully him and Mustipher can make it up soon, suprised we haven't offered still, staff must be confident in getting and really really like Andrew Williams.

IMO, we are showing Williams how much we want him by not offering a lot of players at his position. Jesse being a good example. Hopefully it works to our benefit.

That being said if we were to be able to get Mustipher and Jesse to open up a pipeline at this school, I think it would be worth it. I am hoping this slow play is an open conversation with him that we should have an understanding of where we sit by June 1. If not then we could end up whiffing on both these guys and hurting a future in that school.

I don't think it would create a pipeline because Counsel produces 2-3 D1 guys a year and they all blaze there own path.

I feel pretty strongly it has a lot to do with what I posted previously. We have certain targets that we are waiting on and aren't going to offer others until we have a better idea of where we stand. Jesse is a very good player but its pretty clear the staff likes Williams better. So until our #1 cat target decides what he's doing I don't think the staff will go to far down their list.

Still, we've acknowledged and praised the staff for 'covering their bases' by showing a lot of interest and recruiting players that aren't at the top of their list as a backup plan. Williams may be our #1, but as GB pointed out, this kid is really good. Not sure why the staff isn't going after him if there's interest on Jesse's end.

Hell, last year, they even continued to recruit players where we had no room if in fact our current 'verbal commitment' stuck. Perhaps they really like where they sit with players higher on their list, but I'm skeptical of that. Maybe they're just missing this one or maybe there's something more in play.

I think we are just being conservative this cycle with offers this early. Whether that turns out to be right or wrong is to be determined but its pretty clear to me that they are at every position. I can't remember which recruit said it but he quoted Kelly as telling him that they are only going to offer somebody this year if they are prepared to accept that kids commitment at the time of the offer. I'll try and find which recruit said this.
