thats nothing...

lets put this into perspective.

49ers running back Frank Gore fined $10,500 for equipment violation after socks were too low

Now whats your take on Brady's fine?

It didn't seem to me he did it on purpose. I thought he was trying to slide, which he realized was a terrible slide and his reaction was to raise his foot to protect himself. Disclaimer: I hate the Pats.

I liken it to when you are falling backwards in a chair and you involuntarily throw your feet up for counterbalance. That's what I saw but to each his own.

Have to fine him for appearances, but I don't think Brady was being malicious at all. Dude is way too cool of a customer to do that.

Yeah. I remember thinking at the time it was kind of a weird play. Wasn't sure why he stuck his leg up like that, but seemed self-protective as much as anything. Any experienced QB knows better than to take cheap shots at a defender. That **** will come back on you in spades.

I dislike the Pats, Brady, and Coach B as much as anyone, but I respect what they have been able to accomplish as a franchise. Having said that, Tom Brady is one of the classiest guys in the NFL and I just doubt he would do anything malicious to anyone on a football field, except drop 50 on you and win.

I remember that slide. He picked his leg up and pointed it at the defender that was trying to jump over him to avoid the hit. I've seen a lot of awkward slides by qbs but nobody slides like that. Brady is lucky though if he would have contacted that guy it could of seriously messed him up.

IMO he meant to do it. I think the frustration level had gotten to him and it was an almost childish type action. By that point in the game he was visibly pouting. The 10k won't phase him, but the league has to send a little message on these types of things, same with Gore's socks.

Did you play baseball long enough to get to a point where you were allowed to slide to
break up a play at a base? That was essentially a textbook example of being the aggressor during a slide. Cleats up = dirty, ESPECIALLY in football. The fact that he got fine $10K, even if accidental, is absurd. The league needs to regulate its Brady hard-on.

I don't like Brady, but I thought it was about as obvious as it gets. There is a reason most slides don't look like that.

I see the slide exactly like the NFL seems to... Cheap and whiney but not particularly dangerous.

For reference, Suh got $30000 for his did he mean to did he not mean to kick. Both are fair IMO because I think both knew what they were doing. I think Suh had malicious intent while it looked like Brady was just trying to protect himself(albeit in a dangerous way).

I can understand fines against players for illegal equipment, improper use of equipment, or even wearing inadequate/ill-fitting equipment, but I cannot find a reason to fine a player for his socks. He is getting no extra performance benefits from them being too low, no harm is being done to other players, and he is still wearing socks. I will never understand the reasoning behind this argument from the NFL.
