I do not understand the "Te'o must speak now" argument. More and more details emerge at what seems to be a constant rate and most of these details favor Manti. This thing is being worked out by other people. If he were to talk right away, he would have to explain the entire thing with no public evidence to support his side of the story but if he waits, we get a better sense of what is going on and his side of the story won't be met with as much skepticism. He also only has one shot to give his side of the story so he needs to be sure he has all the info to get it right.

I know people want Manti to have his say to finally put this to rest but seems to me that information is slowly getting leaked in order to limit the shock value of it all.
Put things out there in various forms and let it sit for a bit. People have formed an opinion from the moment Deadspin released the initial report and nothing Te'o was going to say that night (not including his press release) was going to change that.
Let a little info out here and there, let the vultures take it all in and let the shell shock wear off. Every moment is carefully calculated from the Te'o side.
Remember, Deadspin was only 80% sure they had it right and even then, in their initial diagnosis of Te'o being involved, they were wrong.
Damage control takes time.

I saw this. Pretty much covered everything I had seen to this point. I just know at one point there was a Robert Woods alleged connection and possibly any other thing I may have missed in this most likely partially informational thread.
