I've hoped of having both McCoy and Lewis, but Lewis fell off the map and has re-emerged. He's a good get.

Jones and Walls will attend but not play.
Butch Lewis to ND along with Carufel will take some sting out of the Fiesta Bowl loss.

Why isn't Jones and Walls playing? And Butch to ND mean no Young or Mccoy. Or will they leave Carufel out .

Jones and Walls are coming off of injuries.

Lewis doesn't mean no McCoy AND Young. It means No McCoy OR nO Young. There are three slots left with West enrolling early so one of them can still come. Carufel is obviously one spot.

Walls just had surgery right?

That's what I understand. He plans on being on campus next summer ready to compete.

I've found no mention of Jones at all although he's still listed on the roster. Walls withdrew due to surgery and was replaced on the roster.

If Jones shoulder still prevented him from playing QB I would have expected him to be replaced on the roster as well. He played WR in his last high school game but with all the talented WRs on the USA AA Roster I wouldn't expect them to switch him to WR despite his athleticism.

Please, oh please be ready to compete. God knows we need him.

He's not covering Ginn but ND bound CB Raeshon McNeil is getting rave reviews for hawking the #2 ranked WR Vidal Hazelton, 6-2, 200, 4.5, and bound for USC. Let's hope that a sign of things to come for the next 4 years!

If ND gets Lewis and McCoy goes to OU, I'd take that in a heartbeat.
I don't want either one at USC. Ultimately, that's what it comes down to for me.

Exactly! That's the reason why I will be rooting for Texas in the Rose Bowl. I hate USC.

Q. Demetrius Jones is listed on the East roster as a QB but I've not seen any mention of him in practice reports. Is he practicing or is his late season injury keeping him on the sidelines? How/what is he doing?

A. I have not seen Jones this week.

USA AA Bowl Wed Practice
Jamie Newberg report

· QB - Mustain was on fire in the morning practice. Definitely looked the best of the three, leading his team to a touchdown on a perfect strike to Ken Beasley over solid coverage by Taylor Mays.
· TE - Reuland has the ability to separate and be effective in both short and medium-range passes
· OL - Chris Stewart had his best practice so far this week in the morning, accounting for five 'wins' in the daily OL/DL 'one-on-one' battle. Bartley Webb took a step back, as Butch Lewis had his way with the Notre Dame commit from Arkansas.
· DL - Lewis clearly stepped up

Two of ND's linemen have stock falling. One QB's stock is falling, the other isn't playing due to injury. Ouch.

Hasn't HS football season been over now for over a month for some of these guys? Illinois got done Thanksgiving weekend.

Just saying, some of these guys haven't played or practiced for quite some time.

Chris Stewart is working on selling ND to Gerald McCoy. The verbals are going after the undecided guys like white on rice.

even more than that, you have a group of players that are there simply to showcase their talents. and there are plenty of distractions. these sorts of games are interesting to watch, but given all the factors involved, i think it's difficult to get too much of a read on a player until he suits up for his college of choice and starts playing with the big boys.

These are the best going against the best. Some will win, some will lose. They all have talent. Some more than others. It's up to the respective college coaches to get the most out of that talent. I'd not worry about say Bartley Webb getting beat by Lewis. All along, Lewis has been considered one of the best DT's out there.

Imagine what will happen if Lewis comes to ND. I think that if lewis is bullying Webb around now, that this will only help Webb when he gets to ND. With these two lining up against each other in practices, it can only make Webb better.

Zach Frazer is getting more reps at practice today. He started off slow but is getting better and better as practice goes on

It is pretty obvious that either consciously or subconsciouly, both Zach Frazer and Tim Tebow feel the most comfortable with Percy Harvin and Vidal Hazelton. The two are consisitently the targeted in the passing game setup without any defensive backs. miller saffrit

In a matchup of what could be 2 Notre Dame kids in 2006, Butch Lewis has been getting the best of Bartley Webb all morning.

West Offense and Defensive Lines just completed one on one drills. Of the 26 one on one drills, the top guy on offense was Matt Carufel with 4 wins, Chris Stewart, Steve Schilling, and Ian Symonette each had 2 wins. Al Woods led the defense with 5 wins and Gerald McCoy had 3 wins.

Q. Sam Young question
What are the impressions on how ready he is physically for the college game? Does he have the body/strength to step in right away and make an immediate impact in college?
I ask because ND loses its RT next year and there is a big void that can be filled by Sam.

A. I think that is a position Sam will have next year. He and Andre Smith are two players that could start for just about any team in the nation next year.

Bartley Webb's stock may have dropped at practice but he got picked as a Starter!

That left side of the West Offense better dominant!

I like the blue-green mix on Carufel. Nice touch. Worst kept secret indeed.

OU is there too hitting on McCoy and Demarco Murray.

By October, I'd have to think Sam Young would be starting at RT. He really is that good.
