With some people these days??? I'm still in amazement today that I wake up and read adults who are still acting butt hurt over Alex decommitting....it happens every year in recruiting, and not just to us. Look at Gunner this time last year, and there have been others over the past 5 years.

The reason I bring this up, I blasted a recruit a few years ago, saying he sucked, and that I thought he was a waste of a scholly.....I was wrong for doing it, and after getting banned for a few months, I still didn't post for almost a year. I read with great amusement during the recruitment of Aaron Lynch and was appalled at the attacks levied against him and his mom. I was amused because it gave me a chance to see how wrong I was in my attacks and complaints.......look, these are 17-18 year old kids who have an entire life ahead of them. Not one of us, and I do mean all of us, made all the right decisions all of the time at that age. We have no idea how good of a player Alex will turn out to be just like I had no idea how good of a player Austin Collinsworth will turn out to be.

I have no problem with his fellow recruits taking him to task.....they were to room with him and have that personal relationship with him. We go through this every year when somebody decommits..........and why??

Its one thing to question a man's judgment but whole other thing to assassinate his character. How someone can blame him for going where he feels most comfortable is wrong. The way he went about it is wrong but again, kid is 17. Its a decision he has to live with and I pray he finds peace with it.

EDIT: I'd like to add that Irish Envy is a family and should stick together as one. I expect posters in this board to be better then those out there in the internet. I hold us to a higher standard and hope we stay that way regardless who signs their LOI or not; who coaches here or not. If you feel the irresponsible and highly immature need to bash anybody, pack your bags because you're not welcome here.

Not to be a smartass, but people take football way too seriously. We all fall victim to it at one point or another. Maybe our job sucks, issues at home, owe money to the government, failing a class, failing at life, or just obsessed with our team. When life feels like an affront, we get defensive over the things that we love. With Notre Dame, there is quite a bit of talk about family. When family disappoints, you get upset and say things that you don't mean. I'm not saying this rationale is the only kind of rationale, but it's one explanation. Sometimes, it's best to just take a walk... :)

Just a lot of butt hurt, speculation and drama going around right now. We always have a small portion of our fan base that jumps out the window before they know the whole story.

Side note observation: Your thread title "What in the hell is wrong" is a popular catch phrase, but if you think about it, since its HELL, wouldn't it be better used as "What in the hell is right" ?? Hmmmm.

I'm not sure how you don't put an astericks next to his verbal from day one from the way his recruitment went. Last year our sundae got an unexpected cherry on top (Gunner) and this year we lost one (with plenty of time to replace it). I'm eating the sundae regardless and damn is it going to be good. Granted we also lost two last year in positions of high need.

Much rather have this happen with an EE than on signing day. We have a lot of really good irons in the fire and part of me is excited to have more room.

The Aaron Lynch recruiting thread is the perfect example that sometimes recruiting brings out the worst in people. Not pointing any fingers or saying any names but the OP has a point
