Butler and Eddie speculated that they didn't think he would go, but obviously had no more information that we do.

I took it as they are hinting at that he isn't going anywhere from inside info, but didn't want to state that.

I'm probably wrong.

I am not sure if this has been talked about, but there the possibility that his agent told him to take the interviews to try to reach a better deal at ND. That said if he truly believes that ND is the best job for him, why not stir the pot and try to get a multi years and very lucrative contract extension with ND. I can't see Kelly leaving before he wins a National Championship. That is just an opinion.
P.S.: Let's not freak out just yet...

To all of you folks telling everyone to settle down all will be fine...I'd suggest you gain some perspective here.

Tell me something... We've got kids coming to campus in a couple of days? Who's laying the groundwork to ensure them that they aren't making a mistake by coming in early and "RKG" is off looking and crumbling buildings and eating Weiner Schnitzel? They obviously weren't told about this....And please, save me the kids should commit to the institution, not the coach. As most of you do, you defend every single time one of them as 17-18 year old kids and they're immature and don't think logically and basically lick their arse when they bolt in the 11th hour. What do you think their mind set is now? They make mistakes when things are stable......How can one be confident and calm when no one is doing damage control with these kids on the backend???

It must be terrific having balls the size of grapefruits, able to stare down a bald eagle and not even flinch once and have ice water flowing through your veins........Pretty easy stuff sitting on our end when we're not the fellas making a life impacting decision and their leader is overseas with their futures at stake.

So yeah.... I feel their pain and am pissed as hell that nothing is being done to put our recruits mind at ease.

Kelly leaving ND for the NFL would be the all-time greatest turd dumping on a program/team this world has ever witnessed.

Urban left Fla because he couldn't compete against Saban, maybe Kelly is of the same mindset. Kelly fails in the NFL, I don't see an Ala or OSU gig waiting for him.

I just don't like the way this whole thing is being handled. The pregame press conference didn't smell right to me and I suggested as much in the thread where it was discussed. I didn't see it myself, but reading all the comments on IE just seemed like there was too much discussion about it for my liking right before the NCG. Then he comes out and says he's not leaving, which was followed by Jack's supportive comments. Then all of this comes out a couple days later and recruits, at least initially, don't know jack. And same thing with the current players. Regardless of how all this turns out, he has not handled this situation well. No one could convince me otherwise.

Haha, well, I guess it would make sense since Kelly is on vacation and no one could reach him. Theres no way for him to refute that an interview didn't take place. Gotta love conspiracy theories, but I'll stick to this being a money move by Kelly.

It's a money ploy. He'll get an extension and more $ from ND now that's all.

Even if it's true I lost a lot of respect for Kelly. His team just got embarrassed and he got completely outcoached in the NC game. I'd rather him not immediately within 24 hours of losing that game think he's got to try and wring ND for more money. This to me tells me that Kelly isn't so confident he'll ever replicate again what he did this year.

My father said for the past 2 years he was playing Rees only because of who Rees' father was and that he wanted an NFL job and was using ND for that. I never believed that. If and only if he does bolt for the NFL, then I think he might have been on to something.
