This has still been a great year despite the NCG loss

Five years ago, this program won 3 games. 3 games. Let that sink in.

A coaching change, and a few seasons later, we were 4 quarters away from being National Champions. We fell to the hands of a clearly superior team, a dynasty. The 23 seniors on this year's team did not deserve to go out this way. But you know what? I bet they wouldn't change a thing. They went down in the pursuit of a championship and I know I for one am grateful for the opportunity to see our University play for a title.

Notre Dame is not Alabama. Notre Dame is more than a football factory. We don't oversign, we don't have the athletes Bama has. We don't put our players into easy (or in some cases, not even real) courses. We prepare our young men for success in the real world. We prepare our young men for life beyond football. That is why we are the best program in America. I am proud of the combination of integrity, academics, and athletics. This football team has carried itself with class and represented everything that Our Lady's University stands for.

Proud to be Irish. It was a great season, what an amazing ride.

PS: Tonight was a tough pill to swallow. But it is not the end. This was not even supposed to be our year. We are a year ahead of schedule and will only continue to get better. Next year we add a consensus top 5 recruiting class and an excellent core to this years team. Question Kelly's play-calling tonight if you want, but we can all acknowledge we are watching something be built. Something special. Something that hasn't existed at Notre Dame in years. The future is bright.

We are ND.

The thing that made me mad was a couple minutes ago when Musburger and Herbie were talking about next year's preseason rankings as if Notre Dame was just going to fall off the face of the earth next season. Alabama this, Oregon that, Texas A&M blah blah blah when a potential top 10, top 5 team is on the field right now. Sure, they're getting taken to the woodshed by Alabama, but a vast majority of the talent returns (Te'o and Eifert will be missed but I'm confident their spots can be kept warm and played admirably) and we have a significantly easier schedule. So while you're wiping the SEC drool from your face, Musberger and Herbie, look down at the field and recognize that the team in gold helmets is young, talented, and getting better.

Thank you to the team in general for making my hope stay alive. It was a good season till now.

I will NOT thank diaco for deciding to change to a 5-2 from a 3-4. 3-4 worked all year. Changing now is just flat stupid.

Im actually excited to see what Golson and the offense can do next season...In my opinion, he has made some good throws and hasnt looked rattled...This a**-kicking is just the bitter taste we need to use as fuel for next season...We'll go back to being criticized by the media but we'll come back better...Kelly will be better, Diaco will be better, Golson will be better...I'm more than confident that we'll be fine! Love you all and Go Irish!

It hurts right now, but it could be worse. If we keep the recruiting class, which I expect, things are still looking up.

Especially with Fox/Carlo. Fox isn't big enough for this game and Carlo doesn't have the lateral speed. Plus, Motta got put in a bad spot tonight. I know he didn't look great, but he shouldn't have been asked to be put into those spots.

It's been a magical season that not even us fans thought would be possible. I'm so proud of this team and what they've accomplished. This game hurts but this team will learn from it and get better. The future is bright Irish fans.

Thank you for a great season; Stanford, Pitt, USC, OK, and MSU. Only a few weeks away from being named the number 1 recruting class in the country.

I was about 13 years old when USC kicked the **** out of us 55-24, after we led 24-6 at the half. It was so disappointing I was totally bummed. I had to listen to a lot of crap then as I will now. We did avenge ourselves against USC. Every great program has had some disappointing losses, this one is on us. We will overcome this loss.

it was a great season, one i thought i would never see again...yes it was a year ahead of schedule and i still believe we'll have a better overall team next season...motta did a helluva job in the first half, having to do things he shouldnt have to...we will replace teo in the overall scope of things and this d will be outstanding...jeez, the sec is just so much bigger and faster - we still have a long way to go, and that showed tonight...there's a reason we didnt tackle as well - they (al) are animals and that was the big difference...they wore us out

my only issue is no matter what after that game we still arent going to be respected. We are going to hear the same schtick we heard last eyear "ND never plays anyone good" "when ND plays an elite team they get destroyed" As good of a season as it was and as much as we see it everyone else is prolly still going to look at us like they have for years and those stupid people get looked at as brilliant....sad really. I just hope we are an Oregon and not a Texas.

We are neither an Oregon or a Texas my man. We will be vying for the title year in an year out, unlike a gimmicky Oregon or an overrated Texas team. Coach Kelly is building a strong foundation that will show people that they can trust Notre Dame again. This team will only grow from this point and become a perennial powerhouse once again.

We will rise from this, and become a growing enigma in the universe. The globe will be in awe of the dominance of Notre Dame football, and grow to doubt the prominence of conferences such as the SEC. We will become what has never been seen, and destroy all things in our way. The time will grow on our Irish Nation, and we will become the wrath that destroys the will of the entire College Football Nation.

WE ARE NOTRE DAME, AND WE WILL PREVAIL!

I didnt mean it like that I was menaing an oregon in that we stay near the top instead of fall like texas did after their NC loss. We are forever ND and we accept nothing else.

Like Jim Fassel said after the Giants lost the Super Bowl ***V." We had a great season, and one bad game. " I wasnt happy obviously during the game last night, but my mood is actually very upbeat today. I really believe we have turned the corner, and we will be playing for more NCs in the very near future. Yeah we got killed, but we got there. The national exposure will help with recruiting, and as mentioned already we have a top 3 class coming in this year already. This is just the tip of the iceberg.

I never thought that I would see NOTRE DAME play for a national championship, I am 17 years old and have seen nothing but 6-6 records and irrelevance, This season has been one of great pride and happiness even though we lost the NCG we will be a GREAT team for years too come

Today is the first day of the rest of everyone's lives.

Good luck and best wishes to the seniors in their future careers. Some of whom we will see on Sunday.

For the rest of the guys. Just get back to the work and keep moving forward. The program has come a long way these past couple of seasons. Keeping moving forward, we aint going back, GO IRISH!

I think he had 17 tackles. Far too many in one game.

Remember when Kyle McCarthy led our team in tackles and how bad our defense was? When your Safeties make a ton of tackles you have a problem usuaully.

Yes he was usually cleaning up the end of a 6-12 yard run by Lacy or Yeldon. Problem.
