He's on record making very clear he doesn't want to be a nose guard, so we're recruiting him with an emphasis on his versatility to play anywhere on the DLine rather than as the heir apparent to Nix. If we told him he's coming here to play NT, he wouldn't be interested.

My take is that either the staff knows he doesn't want to consider himself a NG and are playing him that way for now, or perhaps Diaco/BK are open to upping the amount of 4/3 they play given what they have at DLine.

Very possible. In any case, it seems to indicate that the staff truly isn't worried about replacing Nix. I suppose we should take comfort in that.
