Saw Harrison Smith was starting for the Vikings today. So I figured we had this for the preseason so figured we could have it for the regular season too.

Vikings first-round picks Kalil, Smith maturing quickly | StarTribune.com

Left tackle Matt Kalil and safety Harrison Smith. Yes, there likely will be a lot of attention paid Sunday to a certain eager running back wearing that No. 28 jersey and to Christian Ponder, the second-year quarterback whose 2012 development might be the biggest X-factor in the rebuilding efforts. But in Week 1, this year's two first-round draft picks will need to provide early evidence that they are as good as the Vikings believe them to be.

Both Kalil and Smith will start. And the Vikings hope they can permanently ink both players into those roles for years to come.

After the ups and downs of his first few years, It's great to see Harrison grow into a first round pick and NFL starter in his first game!

Didn't watch the game but Harrison Smith apparently played well and made a big play late

Too bad that, in spite of the depth of Domers and Adrian Peterson, the Vikes suck lutefisk.

Yeah that's due mostly to a FSU alum (Christian Ponder).

Yea this was a bad draft move to take him that high. But maybe now they can trade for Alex smith. They have a good running game a a great tight end to throw to.

You know the Vikes QB situation is desperate when the idea of trading for Alex Smith is thought of as an upgrade. There are rumblings that Phillip Rivers may be on the trading block. That's someone I would love for the Vikings to get.

Final Regular Season Stats

Brady Quinn: 112 of 198; 1141 yards, 2 TD, 8 INT

Armando Allen: 27 carries, 124 yards, TD; 2 receptions, 16 yards

Golden Tate: 45 receptions, 688 yards, 7 TD

Michael Floyd: 45 receptions, 562 yards, 2 TD

Kyle Rudolph: 53 receptions, 493 yards, 9 TD

Anthony Fasano: 41 receptions, 332 yards, 5 TD

Justin Tuck: 45 tackles, 4 sacks

Harrison Smith: 103 tackles, 1 sack, 3 INT (two returned for TD), 11 pass deflections

* John Sullivan is widely considered a snub for the Pro Bowl and many posters on an NFL board I frequent claim that he was the best center in the NFL this season.

* Trevor Robinson did a decent job starting at C for the Bengals.

* Justin Tuck is past his prime.

Mike had a nice day today. 8 catches for 166 yards and 1 td.

Would love to see Harrison win DROY but don't think it will happen.

Much as I would like to see it, too, Smith isn't even considered the top rookie DB. That title belongs to Packers CB Casey Hayward.
