Other morons are reading the board... I'm speaking to them, it's always the same stupid talking points

Yeah, but ignoring them completely pisses them off the most. I like imagining them waiting with bated breath for somebody to respond to their trolling, only to pass out because nobody gives them the satisfaction.

umm what?

Cam Newton anyone??

Caught and convicted of stealing, kicked off the Gators and went to JUCO for a year, was embroiled in a seasonlong controversy about his recruitment to Auburn and STILL won the Heisman.

The Heisman obviously has NOTHING to do with what happens OFF the field.

Guys, don't let a few douches form your opinion of A&M. The overwhelming majority of us would only want to say that even though he didn't win it, Manti is a great player on a great team. Nothing but respect for your program!

Thank you. And I think most of us would say that Manziel is an above average player on an above average team who performed well in 1 of his 3 big games this year but happens to be the product of a system that produces impressive numbers for quarterbacks and benefited from a voting system that makes it nearly impossible for defensive players to win.

I want to make them think, if that's possible....

Anyway, another thing to consider, for decades the heisman was as much a career achievement award as anything... That has clearly changed recently with Cam and JFF... And honestly I think it's better for it.

The SEC bias is out of control. If Manziel played in the Big12 and lost 2 of his 3 biggest, this wouldn't have been a contest...very sad

The good news is that Manti and ND have a chance to remedy this. The SEC's NC streak is a large part of the reason for the bias.

Not to take anything away from HIM... But I agree... I think it may sound like a hit to JFF but its not... He is deserving... But there is zero chance he wins this if he plays in the big 12.

You're the ONLY SEC person that hasn't made an account on IE to bash us. Thanks man. Welcome to the site

The kind of idiots who would go to the trouble to make an account here to talk trash are NOT representative of A&M. If ND was to play an away game at A&M, 99/100 Aggies any of you encountered would make you feel right at home. Both of our universities have such awesome history and tradition, there shouldn't be any reason for anything but respect between us. So, let message board tough guys be morons if they want, but real Aggies know that Manti is a stud.

Well for one, the conviction wasn't during his heisman season, and it was something that happened in years past. Secondly, allegations and rumors are not actual convictions.

With your view, you think that Newton still would've won if he was convicted of stealing the same year he won the heisman? I say no...

One word that is always attached to the heisman is integrity.

Manziel's biggest advantage was he wasn't expected to do this. Wasn't expected to beat Florida, LSU or Alabama. Next year, he will be.

Johnny is the same. I know it is a single season award, but personally I would have love to have seen Manti win it for all he has done for this teammates, University, and really anyone who interacts with him, as well as what he did on the field. But there is simply no denying what Manziel did this year was incredible, and he certainly deserved the votes he got. Congrats.

I see what you're getting at, but in the end I disagree. Manti's value to this year's Notre Dame squad started 4 years ago. We don't go 12-0 this year in a hypothetical world where Manti just stepped onto campus (with all his ability and leadership) for the first time this year. Manti was instrumental in changing the culture of the program, which contributed to the program's success this year. Cam Newton deserved the Heisman, Manziel did not.

Can we stop hating on the kid's off-field stuff please...

I just read through the last two pages and it is scattered with nonsense about JF's charges. Just stop. Seriously. It is so annoying, immature, and little brother'ish

I don't think anyone's calling Manziel a thug or anything like that. Just pointing out that when it comes to integrity, there is literally no contest between Te'o and Manziel. None.

I understand where you coming from and I'm the last person to throw stones, but when it comes down to a CFB award that is supposed to take into account integrity on and off the field, it is absolutely a point that needs to be recognized. I used my share of fakes ID and been in a few bar scuffles, but I wasn't QB1 and trying to win a Heisman. I could care less that he did it, except for the fact that it goes against the mission statement of the Heisman Trust. In all honesty, I would have been okay with Manti losing to Collin. The kid has a great head on his shoulders and played a hell of a season. But not Johnny for the reasons I already mentioned.

I wanted Te'o to win it, and he would have been a deserving winner. But I have no issue with Manziel winning it either. Terrific young QB who had a great year. We dont have to throw all the hate down on him or Texas A&M the way others throw down on ND. We have more character and class. Dont write garbage which others can come read and use as an example against us. I am proud of Te'o for his accomplishments on and off the field of play.

I understand. I obviously believe that the voting is not in accordance with the mission statement of the heisman. Many people would 100% agree with this logic.

But we have no idea whether people can change or not. Maybe it was a life changing experience. Who knows. I'm pretty sure Floyd went through the same troubles. If he was in line for the voting, would we have said the same things? No. We would not have. At least I wouldn't have.

I understand, and if he showed higher integrity his Jr or Sr year, with this kind of play, I would understand it. But not with the incident happening mere months ago.

As for MF, no. I don't think he should have won it if he had because of the same things. He was an adult and made poor drinking and driving decisions multiple times. Do I forgive him and is he a better person now because of it? Absolutely. But that still doesn't mean that he should win the award.

Like you said, the voting is not in accordance with their mission statement.

I have no problem with him winning IF he were to abide by the Heisman trust's mission statement. No one believes that northern Illinois should be in a bcs game, but they followed the rules and were rewarded with a big game. So all the other guys talking about his off the field life in the previous pages, I'm OK with that.

My biggest problem is not with numbers on the field or off the field, but with performance in key situations. Big games, johnny football didn't always perform. Teo always performed, especially in the big games. I am with BK and say they should just change this to an offensive award. Stats rule apparently.

Not to be a jerk, but just because you want people to stop talking about it, doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Just have to deal with it
