QB Trouble

QB Trouble

All I'm saying is, if someone is going to say that Demetrius Jones ran into police trouble in Chicago, provide a link or at least make up a story about it. Stuff like that can get you banned. It's also libel.
I like this board because of the maturity (most times), intelligence (usually), integrity and informative discussion it displays. And believe me, they pay sites don't have any of these in most cases.
Just be careful what you put out there.

I agree with you, that's why I said it was probably hearsay RUMORS from other schools' fans, etc., so as not to hurt this kid's reputation.

Also, it's only libel if you present a statement as absolute truth to intentionally damage another person. There was no intent to damage him as evidenced by the original post.

Ok here it is. Who thinks he will end up at ND? Just give a quick answer. I just want to see who thinks what.

Arkansas fans have pinned all of their hopes and dreams on Mitch Mustain. Now that he is slipping away, they're freaking out and spewing even more ND hate than we need right now.

QB recruiting logjam....BCS Bowl.....damn. Life sucks.

Schaeffer's Corner - "More On Mustain; Hog Basketball"
December 08, 2005 - 11:49 AM

By: Rick Schaeffer

Fayetteville - Before analyzing the state of Arkansas basketball as the Razorbacks break for final exams, I need to address a point made in my recent column concerning Mitch Mustain.

After three hours of discussion about the subject on Drive Time Sports, I have come to the conclusion I made a grievous error in relating Mustain’s August commitment to Arkansas with his sharing lessons on integrity with students who look up to him. His involvement in the schools is to be admired and his sincerity is genuine.

It was brought to my attention that when Mustain committed to the Razorbacks he had every intention of fulfilling that commitment. Since then the situation at Arkansas has changed. Roy Wittke, the assistant coach most involved in the recruiting of Mustain, is in limbo. Staff changes are in the works.

At Springdale Mustain was in a very secure position. He played for the same set of coaches without variance. He and his teammates matured together from the time they were in junior high. There was always stability.

After having the privilege of describing all but two games of his entire career, I personally wish Mitch Mustain the best no matter what his decision. He is a classy young man. I don’t pretend to know him well but am impressed as he continually gives credit to teammates rather than himself. The next two months will be stressful for him, his family, Razorback fans and the UA coaching staff. Houston Nutt and his staff will continue to pursue Mustain and his teammates until the end.

There are those who believe Arkansas’ chances are slim. I don’t agree but admit it will be a battle. Notre Dame has its glamour back and Mustain is intrigued. From what I can gather, the Irish are Arkansas’ chief competitor. He could become a star at Notre Dame but he wouldn’t be the first. Notre Dame will always have good quarterbacks. Arkansas has had good quarterbacks but only one all-America. That was Billy Moore and it’s been 43 years since he played. Mustain could begin a legacy with the Razorbacks.

Nutt expects to make a coaching staff announcement soon. Perhaps the return of some stability, especially with Gus Malzahn in the mix, will win Mustain back. The process is far from over.

1. HDN did not do anything stupid in the last few days to cause Mitch to decommit.
2. Mitch talked to Charlie Weiss some time back to ask to if he could get back in the mix at ND. Weiss said he already had two other QBs committed and told Mitch he was out of luck. Mitch continued to contact Weiss and was finally told he'd reconsider taking Mitch IF he would publicly decommit.
3. Tennessee and Texas are not factors.
4. ND probably will get Mitch.
...
I am basing a lot of the above on my best guess of who to believe and who not to believe.

If this is true, all hail King Weis! 3 top 20 QBs...Steve Spurrier must be looking with envy now.

Slings, those weren't my thoughts but those of a moderator on an Arkansas site who clearly admits he's guessing. Others have taken his and other people's guesswork and reported it as fact. They are guesses.

Hail Weis for not tampering.

This thread is evidence of the absolute need for a playoff. If there was something real to discuss we wouldn't be wasting time on pure wild speculation.

Man, you guys need something to do. You have waaaaay to much time on your hands. I have to say gentlemen that this thread concerns me. If we get him, we get him. If we don't, we still have two capable quarterbacks. Is life good or what?

Here is a potential scenario (no fact to this just sheer hypothetical):

It is possible that Brady Quinn and Weis have been contacted by the NFL that BQ will be the #1 QB and second pick of the draft after Reggie Bush. To which CW believes Mustain may be better ready to step in as a freshman and play immediately with a January 06 enrollment and spring practice.

Brady was on ESPNNEWS last night. He reiterated that he is coming back. He didn't come right out and say it, but I think he was a feeling a bit snubbed by not being invited to New York. He's a team guy and will never publicly campaign, but I think he wants the Heisman next season.

The following is from the Dan Patrick show.

Patrick: Is there a scenario where you would leave Notre Dame (after your junior year)?

Quinn: I think there is. I’m not going to go in and get specific with what that scenario could be. But at this point, I’m 99 percent, almost 100 percent sure, that I will be coming back next year…It’s in my best interest to come back next year.

If you are told you will be the #2 in the draft -- that is a pretty convincing scenario. Again, I am not saying this is going to happen, just a scenario that would play out for a Mustain commit to ND. BTW, this would put a big hurt into the 2006 season.

Dude, if Brady were to leave, we can throw the NC talk out the window. There is no way we win it if he leaves. I don't care how good this Mustain kid is supposed to be. If Brady leaves, it reduces our chance significantly. I think Brady will be back. He'll be the top pick next year. If he goes after this year, I will be extremely........extremely depressed, distraught, and any other word you want to add.

I agree. Brady is the cog at this point.

I bet that "scenario" is Weis telling him to go. And I hope he's not doing so.

Weisfan, am I correct that the sentence above about Mustain was your comment and not from the Patrick/Quinn segment? I first saw that comment in domerforlife's post. The way the automatic quote feature grouped the paragraphs it appears to be part of the interview. After reading your original post earlier in the thread I take it the last paragraph (Mustain scenario) are your comments.

Everyone....just calm down now. Stay focused with me here.

We all need to be fluid....like water. Take the shape of the container. Let's all just flow with this.

I'm from Chicago....Bulls fan....know all about Phil Jackson and the breathing Zen techniques he used to win 6 titles.

Let's just go with the flow and see what happens with this.

OHIO STATE.....FIESTA......FOCUS!!!

That is the "DUH" post of the year. No kidding. Where did you read:
a. i want this to happen
b. i think this is good for ND
c. will happen.

BGIF, yes your are correct. The first part was Dan Patrick and BQ. The second part was a scenario i was playing out -- my own, no one else - and contrary to other peoples posts, one i sure hope DOES NOT HAPPEN. We don't need Mustain that much but Weis surely has to have a plan if this would happen.

I'm trying to flow, but frankly it's too damned cold and I've turned to ice.
