Rumors are flying all over the place about one of our QB commits having his schollie pulled for 'character issues' and that ND is now the leader (and likely destination for Mustain). Anyone else know anything?

To be honest, when it comes to the QB position, I'm only interested in one guy: Jimmy Clausen. Before I had heard of him and before I had seen his videos, I would probably be very excited at the notion that Mustain might be headed to South Bend.

It wouldn't be the first time somebody messed up but the position, QB, and the timing with Mustain exploring other options seems to be too much to be coincidental.

Color me skeptical.

I don't think anyone knows for sure, but if it's true, most guesses are that it's Frazier.

The rumors that I hear are that it's D. Jones and some problems with the police in Chicago. Again, I stress the word RUMORS.
I certainly would not want to tarnish Jones' name based on hearsay. I am certain we will find out soon enough if any of it is true, or just more BS from recruiters and schools trying to screw ND.

I'm from Chicago, but, I would defer to Jiggs for an accurate answer if he has one from good sources, since he is in the thick of things in My Kind of Town.

I've found a thread over on Hogville.net, but it is hardly from a legit source although his boards consider his word as good and he is a moderator.

Sources tell me that Notre Dame has withdrawn an offer to it's top QB committment. Zach Frazer, a 6-4, 210 pound QB out of Mechanicsburg, Pa. is off the list clearing the way for Mitch to get an offer. Sources also tell me that it is unlikely that Weiss would have made such a move without stong indications from Mustain that he was coming on board.
Not written in stone but it doesn't look good guys.

And

There were reports of some character issues with Frazer but that could be a smokescreen.

I was just spending some quality time in the bathroom and got to thinking. I remember a thread back last week about a story that Zach Frazier was reopening his recruiting and possibly taking other visits.

Well, with that in my memory bank, is there some truth to this although he said his commitment was firm? I also remember heading that Penn State was trying to get into the mix and offered Zach. Maybe he got more serious towards them?

Anyone that's local to PA know if PSU is moving in on Frazer?

I live 2 hours away from State College and haven't heard anything like that.

I heard the same thing about Jones. Hearsay says that he did get into trouble with the law, but I have no confirmation on anything definite.

Demetrius Jones in trouble with the Chicago Boys in Blue? Don't know of this, haven't read anything of such in either the Tribune or Times.

What this does is force me to make a couple of phone calls now because I'm worried.

If I had to guess about this issue, I'm going to say Frazer is being cut loose for Mustain. One pro style QB, one dual threat QB. Makes sense.

So Jiggs, you did hear that one our QB commits was cut loose? My brother e-mailed me last night and told me that people were talking about it on an Arkansas board and he did not know if the Hog fans were just trying to start rumors.

Frazer is a very religious kid from what I've read, so I don't see any character issues with him. Jones sounds like a good kid as well. Weis told these guys he was only taking two QB's. No way Weis goes after a third QB, makes no sense..

It sounds dubious to me. Zach Frazer had great numbers as a junior when he had a supporting cast-very favourable to Mustain's numbers this year. If you remember, one of the very first articles to come out after his commitment stated that one of the determining factors for his decision was faith. He and his family are strong catholics and it is because of this fact that I find it difficult to believe that he would break any commitment, let alone, one made to a catholic institution.

Charlie has many times said he would not do something because it just wasn't the right thing to do(leave New England early to coach Notre Dame last December). Therefore, I would find it difficult to believe that he would pull a schollie from under Zach's feet-that just wouldn't be right.

This is tupperware party, Desperate Housewives rumor crap. There are a bunch of Arkansas fans starting some major $h*t all over the place.

Can you honestly tell me that Weis would pull the scholarship offer of the first guy to verbal with him, in Frazer? What does that say to all of the other kids about Notre Dame and their loyalty/recruiting tactics? Not buying this. If it is true, I'd be ashamed to be a Notre Dame fan if Coach Weis did something like this.

Second, if either one of these guys had character issues they must have suddenly come about within the last 8 months. Did one of these guys go from Bible study to brothels?

Mitch Mustain is good, but Jones and Frazer are TIER ONE quarterbacks as well. It's hard to know what to believe, so I suggest we let all of this play out and wait and see what happens.

My guess: ND gets Jones and Frazer. Mustain either stays with Arkansas or goes to Tennessee.

I like this board because it is the most intelligent, fun and fact filled one out there. We really need to be careful what we post and say when it comes to these issues.

Zach, Demetrius: Stick with Notre Dame. I for one want you both here and feel you are the best QB options out there.

Personally, I've decided to no longer troll to other team's sites. It is nothing but hate filled bitter jealous anger. And they purposely start $h*t that has no substance.

And the ND fans out there are obnoxious, another reason I like it here.

All I'm saying is, if someone is going to say that Demetrius Jones ran into police trouble in Chicago, provide a link or at least make up a story about it. Stuff like that can get you banned. It's also libel.

I like this board because of the maturity (most times), intelligence (usually), integrity and informative discussion it displays. And believe me, they pay sites don't have any of these in most cases.

Well spoken--Just another thought, If Weis pulled an offer after acceptance his credibility would go down the drain. No other recruit would feel safe. It is something that won't happen.

These rumors will come up now that the recruiting season is closing. They will try to unsteady the ND recruits. It is all hogwash and we should dispell them with dispatch.

Demetrius Jones has never had any trouble or character issues with the law in his past, FYI.

Whatever issues there were had nothing to do with the authorities. My contact told me it wasn't his place to say what the issues were, but they were years ago and the staff is apparently aware of them and not threatened by them. Jason Sapp at BGI has reiterated this almost verbatim.

Lucky for Jones, they don't involve the police.

I'm sure Arkansas fans are saying he is a top Al Qaeda general.

This whole mess has to be a sham, particularly after you read the "Frazer ready for ND" thread. Just this past weekend Jones confirmed his steadfast commitment to the Irish, and one would think that he would have stayed away from the banquet had his scholarship been pulled. Its the Ark fans stirring up the muck.

Roy Wittke might be retained and named offensive coordinator. The whole issue, at least the way I'm reading it, is that Houston Nutt needs to implement an OC (do they have one?).

What Wittke did with Matt Jones and Tony Romo speaks for itself. He recruited Mustain and got him. Making him the OC is a wise move.
