We've got a lot of time. I'm going to do some useless scouting.

Here's the link incase anyone else wants to watch their AM game.

This is the blueprint on how to move the ball on their defense.

The more I watch, I believe BK will come out passing and spreading out the defense. I bet they script about 12-16 plays and practice the hell out of them, and try to loosen up the defense. He's shown he's not afraid to let Golson loose right at the start of the game (see, USC).

Slightly OT, but I saw tonight that aTm has 32 commits in this class? Glad to see they aren't wasting any time assimilating to the SEC.

Agree completely. Offensive gameplan will likely be to use the pass to open up the running game. Going the opposite route could result in 3rd and longs, which would put an awful lot of pressure on a freshman QB in a pressure-packed situation.

heres my first half observations:

- 4 man rush = pressure – leads to happy feet
- Am – quick passes short pickups fast pace/plays
- Bama Dl seems to be in lanes – opens up middle
- Am attacks the middle often
- Bama straight north and south running
- Perimeter is tough to get an edge – look for that GA3 option counter and roll out passes
- Alabama dance squad is fricken uggggggly
- Am delayed blitzes work showed lb but brought safety
- AM No running game, used the pass
- Bama Telegraph blitzes
- Bama likes to blitz backers from 5yds out
- Bama Linebackers are 3yds deep once inside 7yd line. every inch is a battle
- Seems am was gunning for touchbacks
- Based on seccg and am, I don’t care if their down 40. They are running running and more running
- Interesting matchup: shembo on the edge. Edge rusher on passing plays is getting a RB. I find that to be an advantage ND
- Mc has smart release… not necessarily fast but more like he knows where hes going before the ball is snapped
- Middle of the field appears to be the weak spot for bama
- Commentary – LSU QB had best game of season v Bama and so did Manzel
- Mc outside the pocket has questionable accuracy but if he can buy time with his feet he will hurt a defense
- ND clone – whole second quarter appeared to be bama on offense

I trust Golson to use his legs a lot on third down like Manziel did. late in the first half, bama blitzed from one side and manziel scrambled to the other side for a hgue gain.

All I keep hearing about is ND hasn't faced an OL and RBs like Bama. Well, outside of 1st team vs 1st team in practice, Bama hasn't faced a run D quite like ours (LSU close in yardage but has given up 11 more rushing TDs). Should be a fun match-up to watch.

On the other side of the ball, our schedule prepared us pretty well for Bama's run D. We faced #2 BYU, #3 Stanford, and #8 MSU. There's definitely something to be said for being battle-tested.

One thing to consider about the A&M game, is we played an emotional game at LSU the week before, then had to turn around and play another top 10 team in A&M that has the hottest player in America at QB.

They played great and beat us, but i wish we would have had a week off between those games.

Playing two top 10 teams back to back that have completely different styles is no joke.

We wouldn't know since our non-SEC schedule has been so soft though, right?

Im not bashing your scheduled at all, yall played some quality opponents and beat everyone of them.

But anyone should be able to agree that playing LSU, A&M and Georgia down the stretch would put anybody to test, those teams are all still ranked in the top 10.

This is fair.

2nd half
- They just don’t seem fast. I guess theyre fast on the perimeter but overall Im not seeing it
- Bama dl seems to be playing more gap pressure to contain Manziel, They rush up field but it almos seems like heir shadow boxing once they get off the LOS
- Am loading box just missing tackles – 8 usually
- Lacey just puts his dead down and runs. Crazy to watch a big man just have that kind of momentum in a blink of an eye
- Don’t think ive seen bama use more than 3 wrs at one time
- Yeldon effective but not quite north and south as lacey
- Am play calling much more conservative this half… Trying to balance time of possession with up-tempo… prob should’ve stayed with up-tempo for a little longer
- Bama blitzing much more in this half – leaves 1:1 in the slot. Can anyone say EIFERT?
- Not sure why but it looks like the blitzes are more likely to come from boundary
- Problem with AM when they sub the refs stop the ball kills tempo… If ND can keep fast paced without subbing, their defense is going to be dead early
- #10 good corner but I swear if he were an ND corner hed have a lot of PI flags for doing the Gary Gray coverage… SEC refs just let it go iguess
- Worthy mention, Barret Jones 4.0 in accounting – Solid work, congrats
- Manziel got hit a lot – take note EG!
- Apparently Yeldon has fumbling issues
- Am getting gutsy and they score. Moral of the story, cant take the foot off the gas too soon
- Cooper = physical Ted Ginn …. Cannot let him get behind us
- Final drive – finally 4 wrs ran seam routes and flooded the safety for big play
- Frankly if we could force them to throw in the redzone by staying outside the 5 or less, I really really like our chances
- game

This is where Riddicks and Eifert's versatility helps us. Can run the ball then spread it out with Eifert and Riddick out wide, so now you don't have to sub in and out

Why don't we look at common opponents?

Lol

We have one common opponent and both played them early in the season. We're both different teams since that point. From our end, Golson has matured and improved significantly since the UM game.

Hard to not be ranked in the top 25 when every team you play all year (minus the 3-4 fcs schools all sec teams play) are ranked top in the preseason top 25. When you win everyone thinks you really did something special and when you loose its like ahh not so bad they were ranked top 15. Texas a&m is a big 12 team with a fancy new quaterback. But now that they are in the sec they are a big deal.

After watching parts of the aTm game-thoughts:

1. Not as impressed with Johnny Football as I believed I would be-thought he was quick to run the ball. He made plays but was also very lucky in that game.

2. Bama looked like a good team, but (duh!) beatable.
