Who Would Travel Better?

ND seemed to travel pretty well heading across an ocean, so I'd imagine there might be a pretty good turnout in South Beach.

Hopefully the Irish fan's take out the queers in the red button up shirts and penny loafers.

Wut.

Why would Georgia fans drive the price up? I've seen that mentioned.

These queers.

Don't let them enter the stadium. ND fans should snag any tickets they can get.

I talked to a couple who went to the season opener in Dublin. They said the game crowd was easily 80-90 percent Americans. I think our fans will represent ND just fine in Miami, probably better than some think.

You'll outspend them also. That tiny school in the middle of nowhere will blow them out of the stadium in every conceivable manner - intellectually, knowledge of the game, and more important, the manner in which you conduct yourselves - sportsmanship.

Also, the Irish playing a bowl game will bring a larger viewing audience. Since we've dealt with those ridiculous SEC fools since 2003, I have some interesting articles archived.

Which Teams Rule the Bowl Ratings? - WSJ.com

Thanks for the link. Pretty cool but not too surprising.

We are behind the eight ball on lining up the 40K tickets that are not allocated directly to schools. We are single handedly driving up scalper prices but Bama expected to be here since the beginning of the season. They could have signed up for season Orange Bowl tickets to be guaranteed NCG tickets (not sure how "season" tickets work for a bowl like this). They are arrogant enough to assume they would make it too.

Irish travel well, but without knowing how those 40,000 tickets are allocated I have a hard time saying we take the stadium over.

That's a good point, but...if i'm a farmer or sewer worker making 30k a year with my degree from Bama, it's going to be hard for me to turn down a Notre Dame alumni waggling nearly 2Gs in my face per seat. 2Gs would pay for a lot of lynchings and chew

ND has fans all over the nation, so some will not have to travel very far. I think each school has to purchase a certain amount of tickets in BCS Bowls. NIU had to buy 17,500 tickets, which is more than their average attendance to their games.

There should be a closely even representation for both fan bases. Plus, Miami this time of year will be a great place to travel.

Look forward to the game.

No you already have them here, Im seeing you all are pretty arrogant yourselves, so far.
Expectations of playing in titles games does not make you arrogant either, plus if you dont make it you sell them or go anyway.
We travel so well we show up for other teams games, :eek:grin:

haha, yeah. any ND fan critizing another fan for arrogance is a real pot calling the kettle black situation. I'd consider it a compliment. Reminds me, I saw something on a scUM board the other day that was like "most of you guys on here are too young to know the horrors of ND fans when they are actually good." I laughed, because i can tell already how unapologetically obnoxious all of my friends are being.

1) This game will have record viewing, and it won't be because Alabama is playing in it.

2) It will not be more than 55-60% Bama fans there. It will most likely be 40% Bama, 50% ND, and 10% Auburn fans rooting for ND.

No, just no. Auburn doesnt even show up for their own games. Viewership wont just be becuase you all are in it, it will be becuase we both are in it. Arrogance just exudes out of this place.

Historical TV ratings for previous ND bowl games and many regular season games disagree with this statement.

I'm half kidding. Auburn isn't going, I know. I'm not sure if you have seen the Auburn shirts they made for the game. They are pretty funny..

I will be as arrogant as I want for traveling to the game. That really has nothing to do with the on field performance of the team. Seeing as how we have anonymous alumni who donate thousands of dollars to the school to cut the student prices in half, I really believe that the Irish will travel strong. We are in no way cocky or arrogant about what can happen ON the field, but do believe we have a legit shot at winning.

This is a thread for traveling to the game. Go look at the "Alabama, Good and Bad" thread, and you will see we have given your team mad respect.

We had four dudes from Chicago sitting in front of us at the Bears/Titans game a few weeks ago. We had a blast going back and forth with each other until it was 28-3 in the first quarter. They were cool and told us they paid 450 each for their seats. We laughed and said next time call us and you have these seats for 300 each. Dumbass yankees.lol

28-2 I mean. It was awful. Funny listening to Bears fans boo every time a Packer highlight came up on the jumbotron. There was bunch of them too. Most I have ever seen from opposing team. Since the stadium was built.

But we travel well, just as well as anybody. We are going for back to back, thats a good enough for us to get Miami for. We outnumbered LSU last year 50 miles from their house.

I would say Bama.

Enrollment

Bama 26,000
ND 8,000

By that logic, ND would virtually never "out-attend" an opponent at a neutral site or bowl game given that they have a smaller enrollment than nearly every school they play. I'd be willing to bet that they have "out-attended" an opponent or 50 that had a larger enrollment.

Not to be disrespectful, but you really need to go look at TV ratings for the games. The ND / USC game was the highest viewed game this year as was the NS / OU game at the time. Everyone of the ND games that were on at night outdrew the other games that were on by a wide margin including the SEC games. There's a reason ND is the only school with a national TV contract and is on national TV every week even when on the road.

I will say that playing Alabama in the title game will make this the most watched football game ever.

I went to the Capital One Bowl when Georgia played Purdue, and the crowd was pretty damn close to an even split. If Purdue can travel against Georgia, I'm going to go ahead and guess ND could.

I would bring up the fact that we filled a stadium in Ireland. Then ask them what they have done to travel.

That is until we play Stanford in China.
