2012 Regular Season: Biggest Surprise

I feel like with a month of waiting, let's take the time to look back at the 2012 season.
I'm curious to see who/what surprised you the most this year.

My Opinion:

The secondary, it was sketchy entering the season. Even sketchier after losing Lo and Slaughter.

BENNETT, RUSSELL, FARLEY, and ZEKE..... I cannot say enough about these guys... I expected the front seven to play awesome. I never dreamed our secondary would be this clutch.

Biggest surprise: Irish defense are the talk of college football. The people that have seen the games first hand are jealous of what we've got for once instead of poking fun, and the people in denial are complaining each week how our opponents keep "choking." The choke argument doesn't really hold up after 12 wins.

Russell. For a freshman to switch from offense to defense and play the way he has is incredible.
