Except the one that truly mattered - correct me if I'm wrong, but AA himself never came out and said anything directly to give this impression, just a lot of scuttlebut around him. Recruiting analysts are no Jaye Glazers, that is for sure. I understand that part of it is because they are relying on 17/18 years olds too.

Sorry but personally I don't care what they said. Not one of them ever started they talked to Alex or his dad it was all "sources." I'm not saying it wasn't trending that way because it certainly was but there was never anything definitive allllll speculation. We had a chance until Alex stated otherwise.

Exactly my point! The recruiting sources other than Alex himself seemed to be already saying "he gone" and putting the cart before the horse. But as you pointed out Alex probably did a lot of thinking and reaffirmed his commitment.

I do think most of the things that were credited to "sources" were true. ND fans should just credit the staff for continuing to recruit Alex and getting the job done in the end.

Fair enough. I just would hate to see someone "jump off the ledge" emotionally and on the way down realize "oh crap, i guess it's ok now, wish I wouldn't have let that ruin my day." I'm a believer in staying positive as much as possible.

As much as it seemed that he was gone and some posters writ him off, the staff isn't posters and they knew they had to close it out. So impressive is this recruiting victory, getting a stud football player who has the skills that can make us forget the loss of teo a little bit more and yet has the wisdom to realize there will never be a human being like manti teo again in our lifetimes.

No..... He's not a #5.... End of story.

That said,, he's a very good football player who has upside, but also lacks things too...

He's not the second coming of Christ.....Manti's video blows his away.......not even close.

Keep it in your pants... Hopefully he develops into something positive....

I hope like hell that he makes the same impact that #5 has.....I do......but I'm not in the business of blowing kids that are himmig and hawwing.............he's solid today.............did he need attention enough to re-affirm is commitment that he gave months ago? Drama......Drama....Drama......
