Thank God I was at a party so nobody could hear. Pussburger makes my ears bleed. I do like "OVER THE MIDDDDDDLE" as much as the next guy, but that's it.

I don't mind Herbie, but when Musberger starts quoting Elton John you know something's up.

Musberger and Herbstreit called a fine game, and gave Notre Dame plenty of props. Everybody should admit that we still had to prove to the nation that our offense wasn't lousy, and that we had a quarterback who could win a massive game. And, the game was close all the way to the fourth quarter. M&H gave all of that proper treatment, and I'll take them calling ours or any football game any day. Herbstreit, by the way, was all for Te'o's interception despite that an anti-ND bias could have emphasized it being possibly non-controlled and touching the grass --- Kirk was never talking like that was the preferred call. Both Brent and Kirk were all-ND-proper-call on the Bell non-TD due to an obvious hold on Shembo once the non-ref-communication was cleared up. Two dammed big plays where they went right to the ND+ side of things.

I thought they called a good game. I agree with Rhode you people have some sort of complex. Also, I really like Hernie. I used to think he was a duche, but I enjoy him now.

I honestly thought they were giving us more love than we even get from our own network. Best compliments I've heard coming from ESPN that I've seen in my lifetime.

I had to mute it in the first half, he goes overboard on his commentary, although I dont mind it when we have the lead haha

I almost lost it on OU's opening drive when Jones went 5-6 for and Musburger said something along the lines of "Folks this is a developing story, ND is not getting pressure on Jones and he is picking them apart." He tries way too hard to plot things out in the first minutes of the game. It's really annoying. Luckily Herby corrected him by saying well they're quick throws and then the high snap came and the next series they were able to sack Jones so he STFU. But if I had to listen to that the whole game I would ruined a very expensive TV.

I'm always impressed with Herbstreit's preparation and knowledge of the teams he covers in broadcasting. Their job is to be entertaining, report on what's relevant to the broadcast and add a little drama / sensationalism to make the viewer really peak up at times. I think Herbie and Musburger do that well. As for any bias, Herbie has been high on us all year and Musburger has said before, you may not like ND, but college football is better when they are relevant.

Now, if he's said it before and felt the need to repeat himself in such a way to make it sound like a statement, eh, whatever. I'm just glad that we had quality announcers. If you don't like them, mute the TV. I like Mayock quite a bit too...I think he's got a very good knowledge of the game and presents that each week. Plus, he's no ND hater. Much better addition to the ND broadcast than Pat Haden. Hammond could be replaced and it wouldn't hurt my feelings any. :)

The thing with Musburger for me is he's like Marv Albert for NBA games. I grew up with their voices being the ones you heard for certain sporting events. Now that we don't have Keith Jackson calling college football games anymore, Musburger is "the" college football voice most recognizable to me and a lot of people.

These announcers are and were bad. They don't pay attention to the game. Did you notice when the TD was called back for holding, how slow they were to catch on? They were completely confused. Then rather than admit to not paying attention, they started ragging on the referee for a "late flag" and the other idiot whined that there's "holding on every play." Pathetic, just plain pathetic.

Musburger is a staple to College Football. He's going to make mistakes even though he got on my boy's nerves (HCTI).

And anyway, he's old........

I don't think anybody knew what was going on with the penalty it wasn't clear and it wasn't the announcers fault for being as confused as the whole stadium

I didn't think they were bad. I liked them personally. Although the guy who puts the names on TV wasn't so good. He put Te'o's name when showing Golsons stats and BJax had a 50 yard catch, not Chris Brown.

Regardless, some of you hate to much.

So glad this is what we are talking about this morning. You people seriously have complexes.

These.

Musburger has been a clown for years and is not deserving of the assignments he gets...but, unfortunately that is more the times we find ourselves.
Fortunately I was at the game, and not having to listen to his non-stop shtick.
Sitting in the south endzone section, what amazed me were all the Sooner fans who turn away from the field and watch the game via the big screen.....really?????

"Folks, Notre Dame is relevant again."

No sh!t, Sherlock....

lmao

"You're looking live....at another one of Brent's bullsh!t comments after trashing the Irish early in the game."
I thought their presentation was sloppy and there are people on this board that know more about Notre Dame football than they do. Its like all of a sudden they came to the realization that Notre Dame has a quality football team. Trust me those $##@# did not think Notre Dame was coming out of Norman 8-0. I think they were shocked. I pick each week against my Irish because its working-we all know that-but it didnt take me long watching that game to see Notre Dame was every bit OU's equal if not a better team. In the end they WERE just better. It will be interesting to hear what people say this week about the schedule/quality of this team/state of Notre Dame football. I think they pile on the accolades hoping to see Notre Dame lose one of these favored games. Dont be fooled they give these compliments grudgingly. What bothers the non Notre Dame folks more than anything is that this is their worst case scenario-when Notre Dame is Notre Dame they are bigger than any conference. And they want Notre Dame in a conference.

As great as Keith Jackson was, his latter years remind me of Musberger now.

Kirk Herbstreit @KirkHerbstreit Congratulations to the ND Fighting Irish!!! Defense showed America how physical they REALLY are and my man E. Golson grew up and made plays!

Kirk is a good dude.

It is funny though how most of our board members' opinion of him changes with Notre Dame's record.

Most were ready to break out the pitchforks when he said we had a high school defense.

Are Defense was AWFUL... in his defense(although it was a bad comment). Love when he calls our games.

Herbstreit is the best analyst in the United States right now. Any sport. Any network. It doesn't matter.

He loves college football more than anything. He keeps his biases out of his work. He lets the film tell him the story. You can tell how hard he works all week and how he grinds through hours and hours of film. He knows EVERYTHING about college football, from Boston College to San Diego State. The guy is amazing.

Man, I love all of you posters on here, but come one. Why are some of you so butt hurt about commentators every game?

I usually don't comment on commentators, but Musburger and Herbstreit were so busy fellating the replay of the Belldozer's TD run in the second quarter that they completely missed the fact that a penalty flag had been thrown for holding. Musburger even said, "I thought this should be the extra point " long after the penalty yards were walked off by the referee and Oklahoma was about to snap the ball for the next play.

Completely losing your grip on the reality of the game that's going on in front of you is just plain lousy commentating. Worse, when Stoops was yelling at the referee Musburger says "Stoops is upset and I really can't blame him" without having looked at the replay where clearly Shembo was tackled by their lineman. Then, when it is clear that the lineman tackled Shembo, Herbie says "we could go through every play and find a holding call".

It was a bad moment for those two. Perhaps they or the producer knew it, because Herbie sounded apologetic when much later they replayed the play again and Herbie said it was indeed a hold and the right call by the official.

Non ND fans watching the game thought:

We get it they have a great D

We get it they haven't allowed a rushing TD all year.

Musberger and Herby are slobbering all over the Irish.

Stop sucking Te'o, Nix, Tuitt, and Kap's dick.

I'm pretty sure the flag was late and then the refs mic didn't work, which was why everyone was confused.

Exactly. There is no reason to get that upset on the announcers...until three weeks from now when they probably do the USC game, lol!
