Can't decide whiich is a matchup of more overrated teams... LSU vs. Florida, South Carolina vs. Georgia, or Texas vs. WVU. I know everyone was impressed with Geno Smith this past weekend but my big takeaway was that WVU will get smacked by any team with a defense.

This is when CFB gets really interesting, especially when ND is good, I get much more into all the games being played. Sadly, overrated FSU isn't going anywhere because they play the most pathetic schedule in the country and are media darlings. I hate WVU, my gf is an alum as are a few friends, they believe they should be ranked right behind Bama. It's funny that they fail to consider the danger of allowing 63 points to Baylor.

What would happen if FSU, ND, Oregon, and Bama all finished without a loss? Bama is automatic...but out of the other 3 teams? Would ND get left out? I'd imagine not because of the hype a Bama vs. ND Natty would create.

Im pretty sure wed finish with the strongest SoS, and BCS is all about the ratings, imagine ND Bama, one for the ages, no way theyd leave us out

A convincing win with the appearance of a moderately effective offense is all we need.

Our SOS seems to get worse and worse by the day. We need MSU to pick it up.

I think we can all agree that there is no 1 dominant team in College Football this year. 2011 Bama and LSU would both beat any 2012 team by a pretty wide margain IMO. That being said, I see Bama and Oregon in the NC.

I don't think Florida is overrated. Solid defense and have played a couple good teams as well.

No way we get left out. But we probably aren't going undefeated so it doesn't matter. I definitely think Oregon loses at least one game too

Honestly I don't see Texas, WVU or K-State getting through the season undefeated, regardless of the WVU-Texas outcome. Those teams always beat each other up every year. And really what would be ideal would be a three-way combination of Florida, SCar and UGA losses. Each one of those teams needs to beat the others, because they provide the only opportunities for losses on each others schedules if you ask me (although Florida also gets FSU at the end of the season, which will probably be the only opportunity for a FSU loss the rest of the year)

But for any of this to matter, ND needs to take care of business! A big win over Miami (ala 52-13 like K-State, although I'd love to keep the streak of TD-less opponents going) and the bandwagon will continue to fill up.

I think Bama is clearly the best team and that they would handle last year's LSU squad in much the same way that last year's Bama team did in the NCG. Bama seems to be about the same to me as they were last year. Different players, but they're replacing great players with great players, and I don't see much of a drop off.

Bama is clearly, far and away the best team in college football this year.

I agree. Bama is very good. LSU is unknown at this point but the signs are pointing to some trouble if they dont get it together.

I just hope this bye week serviced out offense well. We've got the pieces to be pretty good. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the playcalling and players begin to gel.

Anyone who actually watched the LSU vs. Towson game (I got to see a little being in the area) would laugh at LSU being anywhere in the top 5. That team is quite ordinary on all sides of the ball.

The biggest myth this year is SEC defense. Outside of Bama there is not a single team with an elite D.

I really thought they would have (should have) dropped to the bottom part of the top 10 after that game yesterday.

i feel like this is just a down year for deffense across the board, weve seen a total collapse in the B1G (traditionally a power deffense conference) as well as total lack of D in the Big 12 (see BU vs WVU) and the SEC (minus Bama) however i think that helps us a lot considering we have one of the few strong defenses this year, if the the O can find some rythm and consistency, this team can go VERY VERY far. That being said, even with an IV of Kool-Aide pumping into my vains as i type, no one is going to touch Bama this year.

Most might not agree, but I think Bama is getting a little too much credit this year based on their body of work. The only win that was worth anything was the michigan game and our defense did better than their defense. Arkansas was a joke and the team quit halfway through the game. I am not saying Bama shouldnt be #1, but I am hesitant to say "Bama is FAR and AWAY the best team in college football."

I want to see them play an opponent worth something more than Michigan. Ole Miss hung around with them a little bit, Bama didnt dominate them by any means.

I think we should make a rule. No talking about any other college teams other than Miami, Stanford, BYU and Oklahoma for right now.

SEC Shifts

SEC Shifts

It isn't just how horrible LSU looked against Towson that should feel like a boon to us Irish fans... It is the fact that South Carolina and Georgia play each other this weekend and the Irish (provided we win) are set to move up at least one spot.
Also... LSU easily could be knocked off this weekend. It is about time LSU got a wake up call.

Florida has a very very very good defense.

I wonder if Charlie and Crist would care to help out their alma mater this weekend?

I'm selling this. Not because I doubt how good Alabama is, but because I don't know how good Oregon is, yet. I'm not saying that Oregon might be better, I'm saying that they might be in the same league. And that would preclude the "clearly, far and away" part of that statement.
