Since we've had the Demetrius Jones update, I scoured the Internet to come up with info on our other QB recruit, Zach Frazer.

Looks like he has had a rough season thus far.

vs Carlisle (47-0 Loss, 0-1)
His Line: 10 for 30, 103 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT

vs Warwick (12-9 Win, 1-1)
His Line: 10 for 21, 182 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT

vs Northern (22-0 Loss, 1-2)
His Line: 8 for 26, 133 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT

vs Shippensburg (7-0 Win, 2-2)
His Line: 3 for 12, 66 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT

On The Season: 31 for 89 (35%) for 484 yards, 3 TD, 2 INT

Ouch!! From the sounds of it, he doesn't have much of a supporting cast around him. He'll be just fine. No worries lads!!

In the couple articles I scoured it looks like they have no running game as it mentioned they were averaging about 2.4 yards a carry.

It looks to be mixed. You can check it out on Cumberlink.com, PublicOpinionOnline.com and PhillyBurbs.com - That is what I scoured to find stuff on him.

His supporting cast isn't as strong as last year particularly at receiver.

The league and the area of PA that he plays in is typically pretty solid competition. I haven't followed it much this year, but the Harrisburg area is always one of the best in PA.

I saw the game against northern( my H.S. alma matter) and his mechanics are fine. He is throwing to wr's who sat the bench all last year. When he had talent to throw to last year he was really good. The only bad thing is that he will not make any all star teams with his stats. He can throw the deep ball, but his Wr's are slow and have concrete hands.

Well, he was invited to the upcoming Army All-American game. Maybe he can show off his stuff there.

I went to HS in Lancaster PA, about 40 mins from Mechanicsburg. THAT part of Central PA has decent competition (also depends on what level the school is at "A to AAAA"). The dominant teams are Bishop McDevitt (where Ricky Watters hails from and we have a commit from this year as well...name escapes me), Steelton (old steel town) and Manheim Central and its neighbor Lebanon area (which is where PU's Kirsch's is from). Also Gov. Wilson from around Reading is always strong. Otherwise, the pickings are kind of thin until you get about 100 miles or so west towards Pittsburgh and then about 50 miles the other way to the Philly burbs.

Interesting feedback. Thanks guys.

I think he'll be fine. This kind of thing can happen. It is high school ball. No exact formula there.

Not to mention who knows what kind of coaching he's getting. i still think this guy's Brady Quinn's eventual replacement (unless Danny Claussen commits next year and is as good as advertised...hell, if that kid is one tenth as good as he's been advertised and hyped up to be, he should win a heisman)

I read another report from someone claiming to have seen him play and it was similar to the one above. It said he's throwing well but doesn't have much in the way of receivers, they seem to have a problem holding on to passes that hit their numbers, front numbers.

Regardless, rivals has dropped Frazer from their Top 100.

He'll get a run for his money.

I like Brady Quinn's athleticisim. He has really shown that side of himself this year more than any other.

Frazer doesn't strike me as a very mobile type. Hell of a passer, though.

In today's game, the quarterback needs to be able to move. Pass rushers are more agile and blitz schemes are twice as good as they were in the old days.

His footwork is just as important as his arm.

I think the guy to watch is Jones. He can throw and run and is playing in some tough competition.

I have to believe that Weis is drooling about having another running back in the QB slot. It opens up all sorts of possibilities. Maybe he can't throw like Frazier but that can be taught--speed can't..

I have to disagree. Good decision making can be taught, and maybe accuracy can too (although I doubt that sometimes), but arm strength can't.

And I don't think you absolutely need a mobile QB to win. you just need a QB that has good pocket prescence and knows how to move around to avoid the rush, like Tom Brady. Brady isn't beating anyone this side of Vinny Testaverde in the 40, but he knows how to move around within the pocket to side step the rush and let him throw w/ his feet planted. That's how he won 3 superbowls, and I think Frazier can be that type of QB.

You're partly right.

While you can't teach raw speed, you can refine speed. A friend of mine (back in school) shaved 6 tenths of his 40 times working with a sports program at a local hospital. They set him up with a system of exercises and such and it did wonders for him.

Jones has so many intangibles. His leadership and desire to win set him apart from all the other kids in Illinois. Morgan Park has the talent to win state in
7A. They're ranked #1 in that class right now and I believe they'll win it. After coming so close last year, I can't see Jones and Company allowing this team to lose again.

Last year at this point, en route to 3,674 passing yards, Frazer had the following numbers: 83 completions, 130 attempts, 63.8 completion percentage, 1,201 yards, 5 touchdowns, 4 interceptions, a passer rating of 147.99.

This year after five games: 50 completions, 124 attempts, 40.3 completion percentage, 663 yards, 4 touchdowns, 3 interceptions, a passer rating of 91.04.

Yes, that's a dropoff of considerable statistical heft. Some of the dropoff has been literal; Lichtel said Frazer has been victimized by more than 30 dropped passes, an average of more than six per game.

That is from an article I just read about Frazer. Seems he is handling this very well.
