Meh - pretty meaningless right now if you ask me.

If we're in the 6 to 9 win range, there's probably not a BCS spot in our future, then where do we land? This is as good a guess as any. We're going to need a couple of big upsets to get over 9 wins.

Looking more closely at the schedule, besides USC and Oklahoma, I don't know where ND will be an underdog in a game. Maybe Michigan St and at home to Michigan but even so I wouldn't call a win against either of those teams as big upsets.

I understand the schedule this year is brutal but I guess i'm just more optimistic than others and I really believe this team will rise up and finally put it all together and prove a lot of people wrong.

Maybe someone can enlighten me. I consider my football knowledge to be pretty in depth. I follow smaller D1 programs just because they are easier to bet on because their lines are so unpredictable by linesmakers.

Can't believe I'm wasting time breaking down their schedule.

Ohio State - L
Southern Illinois- W
Boise State - L
Massachusetts - L
Akron - W
Cincinnati - L
Bowling Green - dumper fire (L)
Ohio - tie
Buffalo - W
Kent State - W
Central Michigan - L
Ball State - W

Are they going to be so desperate for someone to play us that they allow them to sneak in with 5 wins?

Fixed-They won't be bowl eligible. I just don't want us to get matched up with an overachieving Washington State team or some other up and comer who catches us all the way off guard.

It's not like 7-5 isn't a pretty safe prediction and the Military Bowl isn't a 7-5 team bowl. ND actually has to win these games before you can start calling Palm a hater.

^

Palm's computer has ND ranked at #27 Preseason. How much hate is that?

NCAA College Football Rankings - CBSSports.com

He also ranks ND with the #1 SOS and predicts 10 of ND's opponents go bowling (everybody but Miami and BC).

Southern Cal - BCS Championship Game
OU - Fiesta
UM - Rose

MSU - Capital One
PU - Ticket City
SU - Sun
Navy - Kraft
PIT - Pinstripe
WF - Independence
BYU - Pointsettia

This must be some kind of deal where he uses past performance. Look at the schools that are unfavorably placed with his results. I love the MAC. That is where I am from, too. But for five MAC teams to make bowl appearances: ?

There's 35 bowls. 70 teams.

Mid-American ConferenceThe Mid-American Conference has three regular bowl tie-ins, with a contingency to fill a spot in a fourth game. The champions of the two MAC divisions are guaranteed to go to one of the three bowl games.[10]

#1 The Little Caesars Pizza Bowl receives the first choice of MAC teams, though it is not required to take the MAC champion.
#2 The GoDaddy.com Bowl receives the second choice of MAC teams.
#3 The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl receives the third choice of MAC teams.
#4 The Military Bowl normally has the eighth choice from the ACC, however in years where there are not eight eligible ACC teams, they may select a MAC team (and did so in 2009).

So it looks to me like Palm's computer program indicates some conference(s) aren't going to use all their slots and the MAC will pick up one.

As the Rockets did this last year. Wow, it doesn't suck to play in the MAC any more. I remember when college's winningest quarterback ever couldn't get drafted, or invited to the Heisman, because no one ever saw him, (and he was African-American which was a big no-no).
