As an organization are Conservatives, Republicans, the KKK, and Nazis on the right, on the left, or center leaning?

It's not a linear spectrum....again, educate yourself.

And you're not even comparing poltical parties to political parties. The KKK isn't a political party, it's a hate group

What don't you understand about that?

Oh, actual quote from Hitler:

"I am a Socialist, and a very different kind of Socialist from your rich friend, Count Reventlow. . . . What you understand by Socialism is nothing more than Marxism."

So it's not cut and dry

Ohhh...touchy, touchy. Did I hit a little close to home. Actually Nazis are close to republicans and conservatives. They are all on the right. Fact. Look it up. Right wing is right wing. Also, I do not look at any liberal media websites. Unless IE and UND.com are now considered liberal media. Hahaha

You are out of line, not as far as the guy who started his tirade with "Moron", I am anti-name calling.

It's tough to claim the alliance you see with the KKK and Republicans, considering the KKK was founded by Democrats and one of their basic tenets was to intimidate and act violently towards Republicans.

But, sure, go ahead and continue to equate the KKK, Nazis, and any other group of people you don't like with Republicans.

P.S. Just my opinion, but I would cease mentioning your ND education in this thread.

Clearest conflation of facts I can point to. It is not any more true to call KKK democrats as it is Santa Claus a second story man.

Actually I like this a lot better then the concealed carry laws. If people carried by strapping a gun to their hip that would at least be a visual deterrent to some people as they could plainly see that others have a gun also. Having a concealed weapon would help once the shooting starts but having a gun on your hip would also deter some people.

If you study history, there were more gun laws and fewer lawmen, that's why so many got away with murder.

Every town had a gun law. Which is where the famous gunfight murders took place. The problem is that all you needed to do is shoot someone in town, and walk out of town, and you probably would or could not be prosecuted.

Oh, and the whole myth of fair gunfights, and quick drawing hombere's is just that. Most victims were shot in the back, aka Jesse James and Wild Bill Hickock. No qick draws, just sociopathic behavior winning out to solve problems.

In 95NDAlumNM's view of history, this is important to note. Those are facts.

Does that mean I equate (or draw any comparisons, actually) between the KKK and the Democratic party? No, I do not.

The assumption here is that the Nazi party represents the far right the way the Communist parties represent the far left… it’s just not true. They are not perfect opposites of each other. I am very aware that some text books, written by the left wing agenda driven Howard Zinn’s of the world, make the case that Nazism is all exclusively right wing. I would say ND95 has read far too many of these as he connected a hate crime immediately with the right… just as media outlets of the same political ideology often do. Should we have a discussion on how the Unibomber and Oswald were both seen as leftists or how Timothy McVeigh was viewed to have come from the right??? Do we want to begin comparing death tolls of the far left and far right, even IF we place the Nazis on the right? Give me a break.

Back to my original point, we can site Wikipedia, Howard Zinn and the Huffington Post all we want… The Nazi party was a crazy odd ball mix of left and right,… some right wing militarism, nationalism and some leftist policies that lead to a massive centralized government. Hitler did in fact dislike Communism as he saw it as a “Jewish Thing”. He wrote openly about this. So of course when those of his time tried to fit his peps into a box, the opposite of Communism is what they cited. I will say this clearly, nowhere in the Rebuplican ideology does it say "Hate Jews". Hitler was driven first and foremost by this and that created a very odd thing, the Nazi party. While in power the Nazis were anti-capitalist, anti-communist, and very anti personal liberties and very pro big gov. … some of that is left, some of that is right some of that is just wrong and not representative of either… at all … the Nazis were very much an odd political anomaly in my opinion.

Do some skinheads and nutbags in this country now use all of this and vote Republican...? no question. It takes all kinds.

Also, the KKK has a much deeper ties to the Democrats than the Republicans... should we all smash liberals over that and make the same insulting implications about the left??? This is just pathetic.

I have only one poster who has any clue of how to describe fascist politics compared to democratic politics, and you are not the guy. A few good points, but I have to tell you, the idea of tying the KKK to any modern political party, other than maybe the Dixiecrats is disingenuous.

And, ACamp, those from that group that are posting on this thread are pulling out the name calling first. As upset as you are, I still have not seen you call anyone a name. See what I mean? Not you, not ph!

Like you do?

Obviously a little bit better than he does. At least on this subject.

Again, there is no comparasion with hate groups and poltical parties.

Now, do some hate groups choose to vote and follow poltical parties? Yes. But that doesn't mean they represent those parties nor should they be compared to them.

Simply because some crazy person goes out and guns someone down, is a registered republican voter, doesn't mean that he is a representive of that party. That's moronic.

Bog, I agree with you on how the old wild west worked. My point was more of having guns visible in today's age then having them concealed. I am not against concealed carry laws but I think that having them visible would be more of a deterrent then having them concealed. In both cases the gun in the right hands could possibly limit some of these incidents (although that is not really a solution either). However, having a gun visible could be a bit of a deterrent that a concealed weapon does not.

Sorry, but I am proud that I graduated form Notre Dame and would never shy away from that. I think all Notre Dame graduates are (or at least all that I know and have met over the years). Maybe my views are not just based on what I learned at ND. Maybe it was also my Catholic high school education, or my catholic elementary school education. Maybe it was that my Mom worked as a secretary for our Catholic church for 30 years (you know how radical they are). Maybe it was from the Construction business that my dad started where he worked a lot for Catholic churches around the state as well as catholic schools and Catholic cemeteries. Should I by ashamed of all of that too?

I think what irishog77 is trying to say is that you should let your logic, research, and eloquence legitimize your posts rather than your degree granting university.

Do you want me start spouting off about my Catholic education (which, actually, outnumbers your years spent in those institutions), my professional work for Catholic institutions, my family member's education in and work for Catholic institutions, etc. as well?? I never mentioned anything about that. Nor did I mention that you should be "ashamed" of anything.

Several times you've attempted to equate Nazi's and/or the KKK with the Republican party. It's not a logical conclusion to draw. Several posters have even demonstrated the fallacy of your argument. Spouting off about where you went to school in a thread where you have demonstrated either your lack of knowledge, understanding, or acceptance of reality is not something I would do, regardless of what that specific school may be.

Sure it is a logical conclusion to draw. My opinion is my opinion. Right wing is right wing. There are shades of gray with everything but none of this shows any lack of knowledge, undertstanding, or acceptance of reality (that last one was a good one). All that happened was that I pissed off a lot of the right wing people on here because they do not want to feel like they are associated in any way with these groups. That is their opinion which is also fine. I knew what I was getting myself into when I posted the first comment. It was to instigate (that is a good word for it) that group of people. Sometimes it is too easy. People have all kinds of views, opinions, and thoughts. That does not make what they say wrong. This is a discussion board, we are in the "free for all" lounge. Also, just because it is something that you would not do doesn't mean that somebody else shouldn't or couldn't do it. Life is made up of all kinds of views, life experiences, and beliefs.

I'll let the pretentiousness of this post pass for the most part. Fascism is the elevation of the state (usually a very centralized state/dictator) over the people in terms of power, and especially, importance… hard to put it in more simple terms but there you have it. It should be clear as to how that defers from a democracy.

As to your issue with the KKK… I was responding to the point that the KKK is exclusively of the right. Do you take the same issue with that? Also, calling someone a Nazi is pretty balant name calling, and I would say much more explosive that calling someone 'moronic'. Other than that, I know of only one who can judge my understanding (or anyone's) over the internet, save the trouble and please don't pretend to be he.

Please this is the Leprechaun Lounge. If your feelings are hurt stay out of it.

Democrats are dirty, smelly hippies and they are responsible for the shootings in Aurora, Columbine, VT, etc. They are also the same as communists and are responsible for the mass genocides in the USSR and China.

EDIT: This was purely for shock value. I don't believe any of these things. Nor am I even a Republican (Nazi).

Um, exactly.

You're saying that we don't want to feel that way, but we should according to your opinion.

I'm saying that I'm not associated.

Ahh, no again. I did not say anybody should feel anything. You read my words and got all worked up as did others. You are saying you are not associated and do not believe in anything (absolutely nothing) that those organizations believe in. Good for you. You win the internet today.

I am as liberal as they come but you can't group Nazi's together with main stream conservatives just because they vote for the same candidates. That would be like grouping me together with ALF(Animal liberation front) or Peta.
