I hate the Lakers because their fanbase is made mostly of Bandwagoners just like the OP.

Alright why do you like the Lakers if you live in Indy? Why not the Pacers.

When you are 8 years old and you don't have a home team, you get to pick who you want. I'm not sure if all these kids are bandwagoners just because they find the most exciting teams most appealing.

I bet there are a lot of kids across the country who will grow up OKC fans these days.

I'm born and raised in Indy, am a Knicks and Dophins fan. Dad and I used to see the Phins play once a year when the Colts were in their division.

I follow the Colts and Pacers, like to see them do well...go to a lot of games. But they are not my favorite teams.

Magic front office is comically incompetent. This is worse than the Pau deal IMO. Lakers always have **** land in their lap, its absurd.

I was born in San Diego. Why do you like the Irish living in Philly? Looks like you already answered this. But honestly how old are you? I believe you said you were a teenager. Think how many kids your age or fans of Durant and James? When they came in the league you were what 8? When Kobe came in the league I was 7 and living in Southern Cal Magic Johnson was the man. My mom moves me to real sweet Kendallville, IN and then I live in Indy because of my job. Where you live has nothing to do with who you root for, although for a lot of people, like yourself, they end up liking the local team.

I don't know any bandwagoners that are Cubs fans, just think about that for a minute. They haven't won a championship since before my grandma was born.

Nice thread, reminds me of one that was started last night. Bandwagon Cubs fan is the equivalent of Jumbo Shrimp. Lakers gonna take some teams out behind the wood shed this year. This trade just made Kobe 5 years younger.

I didn't see your thread last night. My bad man wasn't trying to steal your thunder. I got a text about the trade, came to the Professional Sports section didn't see anything and started a thread. Thought the few Lakers fans would like to discuss it but it turns out a bunch of haters would rather just rag on the NBA and call us band wagoners.

I am pretty excited about getting Chris Duhon and Lewis Clark in the deal as well. I expect the Lakers are done making moves this offseason now. What say you?

Can you imagine that we practically traded Bynum and Odom plus a couple draft picks for Nash and Howard? And I thought we were stealing in the Gasol trade. THIS IS STEALING.

Agreed. Here is another example. I am a Lakers fan but live in NM. I was born and raised here and really only lived somewhere else during my time in South Bend for school. However, I am a Lakers fan because when I was young there was a player on the team called Michael Cooper. Some may remember him. He was on the Show time Lakers with Magic, Scott, Worthy, etc. Guess where old Michael Cooper went to college? UNM. He was the talk of everybody here during that time because he went to school here. He would always come back during the off season and have basketball camps for kids (which I really enjoyed). So I started following him and therefore the Lakers. Been a fan ever since.

I am a Dodges fan because their triple A affiliate is in Albuquerque. They were the Dukes when I was a kid and now they are the Isotopes. Nothing like seeing some of the great Dodgers coming through here on the way to LA or having rehab assignments.

Orlando had better offers on the table from both Houston and Brooklyn (Houstons was especially good). Orlando is like the minor league team of the Lakers.

Cackalacky-I was livid when they cancelled the deal, almost all because the Dallas owner, who shall go unnamed, went and through a 5 year old tantrum.

The Hornets ended up with a worse deal in return so David Stern had to rig the draft so that the league could still sell the team.

Ironman- Orlando royally ****ed up. They could have got much better deal from the Nets. However, I get the feeling they were upset with Dwight as much as he was with them and were unwilling to let him go where he wanted just out of spite. If/when the Lakers win another championship they will infmaously be known for providing LA with two All-Star championship centers.

Indeed, thank you Orlando.
